Wow! After 3 weeks, WHITER TEETH and dogs think its a bowl of treats!
What a surprise!!! Unbelievable how well my poodles love this food! They are simply not chewers, and it has been difficult to tolerate my 5 year old teacup's breath (5 lbs soaking wet) and she has developed bad teeth. When I had to make an appointment to have a couple removed for her, along my 2 year old (8 lb) poodle began showing staining teeth and developing bad breath, I knew things had to change. I began searching for oral care treats and discovered this food. I poured thru so many reviews and decided it looked promising. Wow! After 3 weeks the results are impressive! They are now on Bag #3. The dog kisses are much more welcomely recieved! I bought toothbrush and toothpaste now as well and just went to brush their teeth, and the 2 year old's teeth have completed brightened back to a new white! The stains are completely gone! The tiny teacup's are also noticeably brighter, and breath is down to mild instead of 👹👃😲😵😷. The most enjoyable part is dinner time. They love the "meatball" size and taste of this food more than any bag dry food Ive ever seen from any dog. They seem to think they are getting a bowl of treats!! The little one takes her food to the bed inside her kennel, then she will even stay in it and "guard" her morsels for hours to make sure the other dog doesnt get hers. My boy poodle has a different habit- his favorite things go out the doggie door. For instance, he will sneak socks, paper towels and all the best toys are discreetly taken outside to be enjoyed privately. And that now includes Hill's Science Diet Oral Care dog food-one piece of food at a time. They eat each piece slowly, and never a crumb left behind. Other dry dog food varieties seem to scatter messily at the bowl or to the rug, or land in the water dish. Those problems are gone! Aroma is positive as well, if that concerns anyone. Since I always scoop with my hands, I like to be able to tolerate the smell too since I am physically touching it everyday. (I do so because they smell me and my love for them on their food. Silly, maybe but I saw it on the Dog whisperer...), This food smells fresher somehow? Maybe its the parsely, but it does not smell like typical dry dog food, but has a light aromatic scent the dogs enjoy but it does not entice a human to want to eat it....lol. Price: Very satisfactory. Love the subscription delivery plan, with added discount. And even costs less than my local Petsmart. For the results, quality and meal enjoyment the dogs are showing it gets 5 stars from us. Con: available sizes My 2 dogs are fed 1/2 -3/4 cups each food per day. I am on monthly subscription and one bag does not last thru next delivery. I Increased to 2 bags/mo.

Must be tastier than Hills small paws kibble!
I was skeptical about this since my 1 y/o 10 lb poochon is such a picky eater, but I went with the small size bag for her teeth health. I am impressed how she enjoys eating such gigantic nugget, far more than her usual kibble (Hills little paws chicken puppy, smallest kibble out there). My dog is not an agressive chewer, especially on the food side, she doesn't enjoy treats like rawhide or porkhide, but she seems having no problem chopping down this hard nugget. It is hard, but more airy and crunch inside than her usual kibble, so less dense. She rarely eats breakfast when I give her usual kibble since she has less appetite in the morning. When I mix this into small kibbles, she only eats this giant kibble. So I ended up giving her this (6 nuggets) for breakfast, which she devours slowly but surely(Amazing!), and give usual kibble in the evening. My dog hasn't had teeth problem yet, and I hope this kibble helps to prevent one! I will keep buying this as long as my dog keeps liking it! Update: Feb 2020 My now 11lb dog finished 4lb bag in 3 months. She still likes it, and big nuggets in the morning and small kibbles + wet dog food in the evening works fine for her. I do notice her breath is fresh, except for the morning breath. She is now 15 months old, so still too early to tell, but the vet said her oral health is very good for now. I also notice there is no plaque building up. I am subscribing this now, and recommending around other dog owners. As for the reviews that complains about the size being too big, I believe it's up to your dog's preference, rather than the size. I had 5lb yorkie came over, and she destroyed 5 nuggets in no time, loving it. I guess this is worth trying! 2nd update March 2021: I have kept my dog's diet as I described above over 1 year now, and my dog is 2 and a half year old, who won't allow me brushing her teeth at all. She doesn't like any dental chews out there, so basically this kibble is the only defender for her oral health. That and her love for antler and chewing on soft clothes toys, are what I guess helping her teeth healthy. She still prefers this over her kibble, and she eats average 4 to 8 nuggets of this everyday. Her theeth are in a very good condition! I believe it's safe to say this food really helps dog's oral health! Regardless of dog's size, it depends on each dog whether he loves this or not, but if he does, this is a must have item! I highly recommend.

Great as a treat
We use this as a supplement to daily food ration, and as a reward instead of other treats. Still helps keep teethclean and white.

Seems to help pups’ teeth
Most of my dogs have horrible teeth. I give them daily dental chews and plaque off powder as well as brushing with doggy toothpaste. This kibble seems to be working to reduce tartar and bad breath. Each piece of food is about the size of a cheese ball/puff and not as dense as regular kibble. I have four pups, so I can’t afford to use this as their main source of food, but will add it to their normal meals as a topper and use as treats through out the day. All four dogs go crazy for them. They seem to love the taste and crunch and have not had any tummy problems with this food. My pups are medium/large dogs (40 to 65 pounds) and will occasionally swallow the kibble whole. This kibble is probably too large for toy/small dogs.

Really big but i guess thts key?
So I have chihuahuas like others in the reviews have stated…they have poo breath. And brushing their teeth is something i havnt figured out cuz tiny teeth n mouths are hard to shop for whn it comes to tooth brushes, plus im not sure Ive ever found a healthy one tht works. So we just pay oodles for dental cleanings and tht means teeth get pulled too. My 11yr old Gary has a tiny mouth and lots of teeth have been pulled. He doesnt have much on his bottom half. The others Carl our 4yr old rescue (absolutely terrible breath and a scaredy so brushing aint happenin right now) and Birdie our 1yr old (also rescued but as a pup) they have more teeth and larger mouths so they struggle less with chewing these. Birdie my lil pretty girl has pearly whites cuz I have supplied her with endless amounts of yak chz chews tht she has to gnaw on and takes her weeks to finish one but cuz of tht her breath always smells like grilled chz. All tht said I used a knife to carefully cut these in half cuz 1 is the size my their mouth and im terrified of them choking. I recently switched to Hills so they enjoy the flavor. I just got it tonight so i cant say much yet on how well it works yet but I know they liked it and lots of crunching was heard at meal time. (My Birdie girl is great at chewing her food good her brothers tend to just swallow mainly like its pills like they will never see food again) I always put a lil water or unsalted bone broth on their kibble, with wet food spread out thru the week (i like to keep meal time fun and dif so they get a variety of yum yums) I spoil my lils cuz they my babies. So long story short of TLDR; HUGE meatball sized bites will be no problem for bigger dogs but the little ones need some help breaking them up. Hey Hills..I get its suppose to make thm chew but how about making some the lil dogs can handle better??!! Hammer and cutting board will be used next time. (As another reviewer with poo breath lil chi’s suggested) The chihuahua gang Gary (black) Carl (chocolate cream) Birdie (white fawn)

Dog loves, a go to treat now
My vet suggested this dog food and even suggested maybe to use it as a treat to help keep my dogs teeth cleaner. I DO use it as a treat and that has been great because my dog really likes it as a treat and since its actually a dog food its healthier than other treats. Its a good quality food or treat either way from a very respectable brand. My dog seems to love the taste. Since I use as a treat and sometimes have in my pockets, there is a slight order - not offensive, but you can smell it and it does have kind of an oily residue.... in a bowl as food, not a negative. Sometimes my dog is so excited to get one that he eats in two bites and doesn't necessarily get the full benefit of multiple small piece bites but other times he chews a few times which I think is the effective purpose. Whether it does or does not actually help with oral health, I can't say I really know.

helps break plaque
Kibble size is very large and great for a small dog who likes to chew a bit. It forces the dog to chew on the sides and scrape as he eats- much like these enamel toys/treats do. But unlike theses.... doggie swallows them all! So to anyone tired of finding some disgusting chewed up enamel treat under the couch or worse-- this is an absolute win! my pup has horrid teeth AND is very food picky. he actually eats this. he never cared much for the enamel treats/sticks but i would try them all and encourage him to chew on these as much as he wanted. But this meant constantly cleaning up potential debris of varying grossness. this is now our go-to dog food. highly recommended for dachshund or like doggie struggling with dental care and picky about food. Add a little of the doggie dental powder to this also.

Even small breeds can handle this food!
Even small breeds can handle this food! I read several reviews where people are complaining about the size of the kibble being too big for their small breed dogs. My 8lb,10-year-old Chihuahua was on the prescription version of this food called Hill’s Dental Diet - Small Bites and the prescription version kibble is TWICE the size of this OTC version kibble. My dog had a tooth removed in 2017 at 1 year old so my veterinarian prescribed Dental Diet at that time to avoid future dental issues. My first reaction when seeing the size of the food was, she would never be able to eat it 🤣. However, I was completely wrong. Her tiny Chihuahua mouth/teeth did just fine. 2 years ago, I switched to this product which is the less expensive non-prescription version and my dog loves it just as much as the prescription version. 9 years in and my dog still plays with the kibbles like toys before eating them every single time I fill the bowl 🤣 It’s great having a food that really does work and that my dog loves so much.
