Resideo CQ100A1021 18-Inch Replacement Thermocouple for Gas Furnaces, Boilers and Water Heaters

A little shorted than expected but still fit and worked perfectly. My WW2 era Ceiling-hung Reznor heater is back in action!

I had to purchase one of these locally last year and it cost a fortune and lasted only one year! This one is affordable and seems to work fine. They are getting rare as most furnaces use controller boards anymore. This is a thermo-electric generator that creates enough power from the heat of the pilot flame to hold the gas valve open. If it gets cold, the valve closes and the gas shuts off. Its simple and effective--not some complicated thing that will fail when you need it most.

It appears to be the correct thermal coupler needed for my Paloma hot water heater. I've had this part break on my Paloma a few times now about every 3 years I need a new one, so I am simply investing for the future. The next time my Pilot light on my Paloma goes out, I will have the correct part to fix my problem.

works as advertised

once installed it does it's job perfectly well. installing was more difficult than it needed to be, the threads on the nut are not all that cleanly made and were a struggle to get started. would have preferred they use a brass nut like most thermocouples, the threads on those have cleaner threads in my experience.

Received item but after opening mailer the original package looked like someone already used it or replaced the new one with their old one. Notice the burn mark on it Really frustrating, because needed asap for hot water heater!
