A multi-dimensional view of how you should really strategize around the cloud
It's easy for businesses to fall into the trap of thinking about cloud adoption in a very one-dimensional way. The truth - as always - is more nuanced and "rich" in terms of dimensions - and that's what I really love about this book. The authors do a wonderful job of exposing all of the dimensions that need to be considered - and better yet they provide a step-by-step approach for rationalizing those dimensions in a very logical and approachable way. It was way too easy (and hard to swallow) for people to say "move everything to public cloud" - and this playbook will help businesses build a reasonable - and logical - strategy that includes thinking around data, governance, service delivery, workload characteristics, culture, etc. Super helpful, easily understood, and long overdue!

Comprehensive
I found most of the content of this book is based on actual practice in the field. Worth a read, or use as reference if you are looking for forming your own version of cloud adoption playbook.

I realized that there were so many blind-spots to our execution approach that were the very best practices this book described
I received this book as a gift from one of the authors. I was hesitant at first, as the subject of cloud strategy and adoption had it's hay moment and most of what we cared about was executing the transition fast. Once I completed the read, I realized that there were so many blind-spots to our execution approach that were the very best practices this book described. The authors did a great job, narrating from their real life experiences, the key considerations and the "how" to go about the transition in the most optimal manner. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for valuable insights from real experiences. The authors did a great job striking the right balance on the many dimensions, bravo!

It’s a good source of ideas
If you have gone to the cloud before you will find their topics and language familiar. They lose stars with me for over promising a bit and also for focusing on how IBM does things when they interact with their customers. For those of us familiar with RUP we will take these kinds of things with a grain of salt. Would Love to hear this topic from a startup perspective.

Very insightful look at the whole picture of cloud adoption ...
Very insightful look at the whole picture of cloud adoption and transformation, included a clear focus on the Ops side of DevOps, a commonly over looked aspect of enterprise transformation to this new technology platform.

I highly recommend everyone involved in a cloud discussion and implementation to ...
I received this book during the IBM Think conference in Las Vegas this year. I attended the Author's book signing, and got a personalized copy of the book. It's been a valuable asset to help me with several cloud strategic and adoption discussions I'm having with my clients and project's personnel. As a technical consultant for banking solution design and technology recommendations, I have to pursue a clear understanding and technical knowledge of the business drivers associated with the cloud adoption, and help my clients on defining their strategy for transforming and moving their applications to cloud. It's a journey, and this book has been guiding me on all these discussions with a clear roadmap, as well as the details associated with each area to be addressed in a cloud adoption journey.I highly recommend everyone involved in a cloud discussion and implementation to read this book. As the title states, it contains a valuable playbook insights from very knowledgeable authors. The authors did an outstanding job in organizing the many aspects and key topics associated to a cloud adoption journey. A must read book !!!

Great Content - Defective Print Binding
I don't typically write reviews even though I'm an avid reader of technology books, papers, and articles. I read through chapter 5 and really felt lost as to what the writers were trying to layout as a cloud adoption strategy. It wasn't until chapter 6 that I realized part of chapter 3, 4, and 5 were bound incorrectly. Looking at the page numbers, the book goes from page 37 (ch.3) to page 69 (ch4) and jumps back to page 38 after page 100. Once I realized the pages were bound out of order I went back and read the chapters as they were intended and it was much more clear. If you got one of these books, make sure to follow the page numbering and not the way the chapters are bound together.

Bad image quality
I really like the book's content. However, the quality of the images is surprisingly bad - mostly unreadable even. I would not buy the book again. A PDF version would help to properly understand all the images.
