Are the the original zwilling made in germany? the price would be awesome. a fifth of the original price.

If you want the real McCoy made in Germany, then you need to look for the Zwilling Pro, Four Star or Gourmet lines, not the Henckels. I have had my Four Star set since 1988, and they are just as good today as the day I bought them. They are a bit pricey, but they will last a lifetime.

Are the knives dishwasher safe?

NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER put a knife in a dishwasher. EVER! I don't care what a company says. They lie. Most companies are smart enough to NEVER say you can put a knife in a dishwasher. So, NEVER, EVER. Stainless steel used for knives is not the same stainless steel used for your dinner ware. Even if it takes a long time to rust, running a knife through a dishwasher affects the edge. It will make it dull over time and you'll be sharpening it more often. But eventually it WILL get ruined with spots or rust if you run knives through the dishwasher. So, just to driver it home, NEVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What's the difference between this brand and Chicago cutlery?

I have a set of Chicago Cutlery knives and the handles on the steak knives, (not riveted), started falling apart within a year. I think they were made of some sort of plastic. I dont ever put my knives in the dishwasher. Always wash them by hand and allow them to dry but with the Chicago Cutlery knives it didnt matter. Handles started disintegrating and the blades loosened up and fell out. I am going to order this set of Henckels, (despite the fact that this particular set is made in China, because I have seen such good reviews. Fingers crossed!
