Do you recommend this violin for a beginner or an intermediate level student?

I don't know much about violins but I do know about this one because I have it. For a beginner I say this is a good violin but it isn't very durable. The instructional videos that come with it aren't that good so I would suggest getting different ones. I haven't had any major issues with the violin other than tuning. The pegs are either too lose or tight so you might have to buy the supplies for that.

does the case in the photo come with the violin.. one customer said it didnt..

Yes. I purchased this violin about six months ago and the case in the picture came as part of the package. You get everything you see in the picture. The case is not the nicest you will see, but it is decently sturdy and has two shoulder straps along with a top carrying handle and a side carrying handle.
