OTTERBOX COMMUTER SERIES iPhone 6/6s Case - Frustration FRĒe Packaging - INK BLUE (ADMIRAL BLUE/DEEP WATER BLUE)

I really wanted to like this case. I've had 4 of them. Slim, protective, fits in my pocket nicely and has plugs to prevent lint from building up in the ports. BUT, the rigid shell keeps breaking. 4th case in less than 2 years broke in the same place on the same iPhone 6s (bought 3 & one warranty replacement). No abuse other than sliding it in and out of my pocket. Otterbox replaced the last one under warranty, but charged $5 shipping. That one lasted 5 months. There weren't many other options the first 3 times that were slim with port plugs, but now we have other choices. Time to move on to something else. Tired of dealing with replacements and paying for the privilege. Trying the Anker Glaze next. About the same size with port plugs and cheaper, as of this review. I've had excellent experience in the past with several of their products and the company. Will review that one after some time with it, hopefully more than 5 months.

When I first got my iPhone 6, I got a cute, cheap case because I figured I wouldn’t need a ton of protection because my phone spends a time in my pocket or on a table and doesn’t get dropped. l accepted when the color started wearing off and the rubbery part just wouldn’t get very clean. It did a decent job protecting my phone for roughly a year and a half later until it cracked and I finally needed a new case. I decided it would be worth the extra money for an Otterbox, considering their reputation of being rugged. This one had the added bonus of a screen protector, so I didn’t have to make an additional purchase.The case looked great when it came, just like the pictures. It was very easy to put on my phone. The tabs covering the charge and headphone jacks pry up easily enough and haven’t started to show signs of wear or stress, but I’ve only had it about 2 months, and I’ve recently discovered a crack from the edge of the hard shell of the case thru one of the corners of the camera window. About the same time I saw a chip had come out of the window for the Apple symbol, and just yesterday I noticed the chip now has a crack joining it to the outer edge of the case. It hasn’t been dropped recently or treated roughly; I’m at a loss to explain where any of the damage has come from. I’m bummed because I expected this case to last me until I get a new phone, or at least another year and a half. Instead now I have to see if I can make a warranty claim and get it replaced.

...And I sold a lot of otterbox products in my past life as a retail worker. This commuter case is an absolute horror show. I bought it to replace their earliest version of an iphone 6 commuter case that finally broke down on me. This newer 6/6s version (mainly you can tell because it reveals the aluminum Apple logo on the rear vs the old version) is downright terrible. The plastic shell is so, so, so brittle. One drop and the corner is gone, and the side comes off because they added a thin feature there - a groove/line to make it look prettier, but just made it weaker. Rubber is the same in both versions - after a couple months you'll lose the dust flaps but that's expected. This piece of crap didn't last a month. Otterbox should be ashamed of themselves for this one.

Update:Fell apart from gentle use due to flawed design. If you examine the design of the hard plastic you will find there are two pieces that extend away from the main body with very little material to support them. These are the two pieces that broke from gentle use. Sheared right off. I mean seriously gentle use. “This is my first smartphone” careful use. Never dropped.The fragility of the case means it’s one you will be buying every year. This is not why I bought the Otterbox name. Based on this experience, a similar experience with my wife’s different Otterbox case, along with other negative reviews I have read: I can say that Otterbox is not the same as it used to be. It’s very likely that bulletproof products and free lifetime replacement options are just not profitable. Time to look elsewhere.When I upgraded to an iPhone 7 I picked an ESR case that is still in one piece after a year of use, and far less gentle use at that.Original review:I'm very happy with the fit of this case for my 6s. I saw some pictures showing where the silicone meets the plastic had large gaps, but this is adjustable and the gaps are meaningless anyways. You can slide the silicone up or down and even stretch it a little by pulling one end or the other while the whole case is attached to your phone to even it out.The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because the case is too slippery. The iPhone 6 (non plus models) are much wider than the 5. Even if similar designs of this case for the 5 did not have slippage issues, this one does. It is hard to have a good grip on the phone and use it one handed, you end up with a lot of smooth plastic in your hand. Wouldn't surprise me if it slips out of my hand eventually. If I find any kind of add on adhesive grip strips (or similar) I will add them.It's a good quality case, just has a small design flaw.

I have been using the Defender case on about 3 or 4 phones and have always been happy. My 18 year old calls it a brick. So be it. My Defender case recently broke at the bottom end where you would plug in the charger so I figured I would get the Commuter case because slimmer design. I was very happy to see that a belt clip holder was offered for the Commuter case. So I purchase both. The Commuter case is very nice and feels solid and not as thick as the Defender, but still seems to offer very good protection. If your working in construction, then get/keep the Defender, for a pencil pusher such as myself, the Commuter will do just fine. Will update on durability one I've had it for a while. I'm sure it will hold up as I do not toss around my phone.

Great case. Pity it had to come from the USA as no UK seller stocked it in blue. NB: Don't bother with the Otterbox screen protectors. Mine scratched in 2 days.

This OTTER BOX is SLIPPERY,the screen shield is a throw out,it scratches when you put it on from the sideof your finger nail,not worth the price,there is more QUALITY in the small OTTER installation card than thereis in the screen shield,too expensive for what you get.

Me gusta en lo personal este tipo de fundas de parte suave con sólida, protege muy bien el teléfono y absorbe muy bien los golpes. No le di las 5 estrellas a precio/calidad porque en otro sitio la vi más barata, después de haberla recibido.
