Perfectly good tea
This is not a particularly complex or interesting tea, but it is delicious and a good value. I think any tea drinker would like this, but gongfu aficionados would be better off buying from a specialty company.

Experienced tea drinker's review
I want to start by saying I am a fairly experienced gong fu tea fanatic and have been practicing this method for over five years. This is a mid/upper grade shou mei white tea, the value on this tea is incredible for the price. The liquor is a warm yellowish red and clear, indicative of a true moderately aged shou mei. The taste is full bodied, sweet with honey and jujube notes, and steeps well for me at 200f. The leaves seem more on the mature side, allthough the packaging states it was picked on the earlier of spring side (late April). I believe that this tea is a great daily drinker for newbies and experienced tea drinkers alike. Some amazon vendors use thin margins to move volume, which makes it great for consumers like us. Definitely a gem of a find, I highly reccomend this to those who love fuller bodied white teas.

Great tea, but a bit deceptive.
The tea itself was great and you can't beat the price for what it is. It smells great and has a mild earthy taste. It's just a bit deceptive, since it's not aged since 2016. Mine was from 2022, then again I wasn't suprised considering how cheap it was. I would still recommend it.

Loved. Recommend. Best white tea.
Was looking for a white tea for less caffine, less teeth staining and have something to sip on in the moring when intermitten fasting. Ive never been crazy about white teas becuase they are normally fruity or flowery etc, which I dislike. I read up and saw this had bold taste and tasted more like a black tea. took the leap and I LOVE this tea. I didnt want to spend alot in the event I didnt like it and if I did I'd venture out for better next time however, Its aged and the best price for Shou Mei and dont see myself having to change. Its smooth not bitter, its not floral or fruity and great all around. Really nice.

Pungent aroma, smooth, earthy, tangy
The aroma is strong enough you smell it through the paper. Very pungent and sharp that peaked my curiosity even more so. Impressed with the packaging. They put it inside a sealed bag you can store to keep from light and potential moisture. the bag also has the English label. The cake is about 4 inches in diameter. Full leaves, dark color similar to Puher leaves. (supposedly aged for 8 years) you CAN tell it is aged because the leaves maintain a "dry" texture even after steeping. They don't get "spongy" they remain stiff. Tea liquor is very light at first in color and clean. The sharp aroma pulls through the flavor profile. It is an earthy sweetness, but with a tangy punch due to aging. Unique profile for a white tea. I've been on a white tea kick for a while. This is a big contrast from a green leaf white tea like from Tian Hu Shan (also a good tea) For the price, it's very much worth the adventure. Not top grade, but definitely interesting. I would recommend this if you are a fan of aged teas. I have actually updated to add that I just purchased ANOTHER cake to store for the future.

An acquired taste?
This tea has a very refined taste like a wine. But the taste is unique that perhaps it is an acquired taste. Though it was very interesting to try. Personally I preferred more ripe puerh tea cake that I already reviewed. But this tea is worth trying to see for yourself.

A great value and learning tool!
So… As others have said, this particular tea isn’t anything all that special. It’s not premium, as say, the ones from an official dealer. However, this tea is wonderful for the value and daily drinkability. Also, for those new to this style of tea, be it prying off the leaves with a pick or tasting via gong fu cha method, it provides a lovely introduction. You’ll learn to use the pu erh knife without damaging more precious teas, and you can also get a good grasp on how to break away the leaves as intact as possible. I found this tea is very nice when steeped with 175°F hot water for about 5 minutes in a traditional western style. I usually get a second pleasant cup from the same leaves when steeped for ten minutes. The aroma is lovely as is the liquor and color. The taste provides a full body but light sweetness that lingers for a while. I feel a nice subtle caffeine and mood boost afterwards. The only real downside for me was that this tea is lacking when it comes to traditional gongfu cha brewing. There is not much going on as far as tasting experience goes while the leaves unfurl. So I look to more interesting and premium teas. However, this tea is still a useful tool to learn how to brew in both styles as you wish. With that said, you will not be disappointed. It’s lovely, good daily drinker, and you can store it and forget it for a while so it ages nicely! I would recommend this to beginners and experienced tea heads alike.
