I got the Lockdown Golden Rod Dehumidifier because my safe was starting to feel like a tropical rainforest. Let me tell you, this little rod means business. It fits neatly inside my safe, keeps everything dry, and I can finally open it without worrying about rust, mold, or that musty “wet cardboard” smell. Plus, it’s so simple even I can install it without reading the manual twice. Pros: • Keeps Moisture Away: My coins, documents, and firearms are staying perfectly dry. • Compact & Easy: Fits in safes, drawers, or cabinets without eating space. • Plug-and-Play: Just plug it in and it works—no complicated setup. • Durable & Reliable: Doesn’t get hot or need constant attention. Cons: • Power Needed: Needs an outlet, so not ideal for completely unplugged storage—but that’s expected. • Limited Range: Best for enclosed spaces, not a whole room. Overall, this thing is like a personal bodyguard for my valuables, keeping them dry and happy. Moisture doesn’t stand a chance.

i was a little worried how well this would fit in my safe. I wanted it on the floor between the vertical section divider and the outer wall. This unit fit well. The cord was easy to thread thru my port, although part of the ease is because I have my safe resting on a small wood block to keep it off the cold floor. If your port is on the bottom and the safe isnt elevated, you might have a problem with this or any corded device. I don have the fancy humidity detectors and things, but it is warm to the touch and I am confident that it is aiding in humidity control. I believe in overkill, so I also have a can of the dehumidifier stuff but this rod makes me feel better as those cans have maintenance of drying them out in an oven. Which I dont do as often as I should. My safe is in the utility room with the dryer and washer (both prone to raising humidity) and I don't worry because of this device. All in all this gives peace of mind at a good price.

I bought this to put in a safe to dehumidify the contents. So far, it's been running for a few months and it's been working very well. If you are like me, agonizing over which size to get, I would suggest you go a little bigger than you think you need. It doesn't seem to hurt. These work by gently raising the temperature inside the safe to drive off moisture to the outside. In that case, it's not a bad thing if it's a little warmer than you thought. Do follow the directions and make sure it's not in contact with anything as it does get fairly warm (too warm to hold for more than a couple seconds). Overall, I'm very pleased with the product and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others. When you think of the valuables you may have in your safe, it's cheap insurance against rusting to spend the money on one of these!

Lowers the humidity in my gun safe about 5% and raises the temperature about 4-5 degrees. I’m generally satisfied but was hoping for a bigger reduction in humidity. However it is a fairly large safe.

Best dehumidifier rod on the market, easy set up. My first golden rod is at least 17 yrs old and still going strong! Highly recommend it and I wouldn’t purchase any other brand! They have any size you need, great price, I hope the last 2 I’ve bought last as long as the first.

These are essential for protecting guns stored in a safe from rust. I have four safes and have one in each. I have been using these for 20 years and have had no problems with rust.

Easy to install and works well at heating the bottom of safe to circulate the air. Cost pennies to run and nothing to maintain like the silica beads. Will buy another one for the other safe.

Bought two golden rod about 8 years ago, have had them in both safes and they have controlled the humidity without any problems

Was already using the dessicant packs. Until I had rusts issues the first time. It's hard to clean surface rusts. I'd rather spend the money for extra protection than having rusts in my collection! Although my hygrometer is on the highest of 40% this winter, let's see how this will do. I think I had the rusts from fall of 2020. Very happy with this purchase and I wired this golden rod right away after receiving it!

Produces some heat to keep my gun cabinet dry .
