Robert Murray M'Cheyne was a preacher, a pastor, a poet, and writer. At an early age M Cheyne showed aptitude for the arts, especially music and poetry. He was keen on sports particularly gymnastics. He was also a man of deep piety and prayer. He never married, but he did have a fiancee at the time of his death at age 29. His relentless devotion to Christ at a relatively young age has been an inspiration to generations of believers. Not long after his death, his friend Andrew Alexander Bonar edited this biography. The book went into many editions and has had a lasting influence worldwide."
