Want to use this at the top of our stairs to keep the baby from falling while allowing the Cat free reign of the house - would you recommend?

1. You would want to screw it into the walls to make sure it couldn't be pulled/fall over.  2. Make sure it's tightened enough that the "people" door won't open accidentally. 3. Zip-tie the cat door open so it won't pinch little fingers.  4. Definitely make sure the baby can't fit through the cat door - it's probably larger than you think.  Hope that helps!

Question 3

We want to use it to block our dogs off in the kitchen when we go out. Can  it be easily taken down & put back up?

Yes, it's easy, but we used the wall anchors for more stability (our dogs are large and enthusiastic) and we find it's easier to just leave them up all the time. They're reasonably attractive and the gates are easy to operate, plus this allows us to quickly and easily kick the dogs out of the kitchen if they're being pests!

Can the "cat door" be taken off or propped open somehow? I have a blind kitty and want to keep the small door open permanently.

Accepted Answer

YES!!  Yes you can!  You will need a couple of small needle nose pliers to do it, as the pin holding it in is spring loaded.  Have the gate upright, open the small door completely (open it away from you) to expose the pin, pinch and pull down using the pliers.  The pin is rather long so you will need both pliers in order to compress the spring loaded pin enough to remove the door.  I had the door propped open for a couple of months, and cannot tell you the number of times I whacked my shin on it.  Seriously, propping it open is the not the answer.
