Solid 3-in-1 Filter That Delivers—Highly Recommended
The media could not be loaded. This 3-in-1 filtration system is definitely worth the hype. It’s been going viral on TikTok lately, but I actually discovered it through Amazon. After using it, I can confidently say—it lives up to the praise. The filter does an excellent job of clearing up the water fast. Honestly, it started working within 10 minutes of setup. My tank looked noticeably clearer almost immediately. It also adds oxygen and uses biological filtration balls, which help keep the water clean and healthy for my fish.I’ve tried a few cheap filters before, and the difference is night and day. This one had a ton of reviews, and now I understand why. It’s powerful, but gentle—the water flow doesn’t stress out my fish or force them to swim harder, which I really appreciate. One small tweak I made: I replaced the black sponge that came with it. It felt a bit too flimsy and wasn’t catching much debris. I swapped it out for an AquaClear sponge, trimmed to fit the original size, and the difference was huge. Better filtration all around. If you’re starting an aquarium or just looking for an affordable, reliable in-tank filter, this is the one. Sure, there are TikTok deals, but I stick with Amazon and I’m glad I did. Five stars from me.

Perfect for 5 gallon aquarium
Perfect filter for 5 gallon Betta tank. Easy setup. I added an air control valve between the airpump & filter so I can control the bubbles. Works great!

Overall good sponge filter, but could be better.
The media could not be loaded. I like the compact design of this sponge filter, it has a very small footprint taking up very little space in the aquarium. It works pretty well for filtration in a nano tank and could probably be good up to 10 gallons if the tank is not overstocked with too many fish or heavy-bioload fish. Some things that could be improved:There needs to be an easier way to access the sponge from the bottom for cleaning/maintenance. The current design makes it such that you have to take out all the filter media above, the division plate, and then you can finally access the sponge at the bottom - then good luck putting everything back as-is after cleaning. The other issue I had is with the suction cups. They work well for about 1-2 days, then it would lose suction and I would have to stick them back on to the tank glass, over and over again. I got fed up with it and decided to ditch the suction cups and add some kind of DIY magnetic attachment system. Research told me that regular magnets are not safe as they can deteriorate, rust and leech into the aquarium water. Only magnets which are fully-sealed, enclosed in rubber or plastic are safe for aquarium use. With that, I discovered "Sew-in Magnets" / "Sewing Magnets" - magnets designed as fully waterproof magnetic clasps for sewing into coats or bags. It was perfect for modifying the sponge filter, but I needed 2 pairs of magnets to hold the filter in place. If you are struggling with the included suction cups, this is a possible fix for you as well.Other than those issues, I really like this compact sponge filter.

Great budget filter
Very nice small filter. I got the larger 20 g size one for my 5 gallon nano tank. Be aware this needs a separate air pump to work. I really like having both the sponge filter with the bio balls for additional biofiltration.

Ehh
While it blows the bubbles well when connected to airline, I do not think it actually filters much.I got this because I wanted to find a smaller sized sponge filter- all other sponge filters I’ve used I’ve been able to see the waste on the sponge - this was in for some time and had none, nor did the sponge ever even get stained. I don’t believe it actually filters/cleans, just works as an airstone. Also to note, if you have a beta that tries to get into small spaces- the way this is positioned on tank wall makes it so a smaller sized beta can squeeze in between it and the wall in some spots resulting in getting stuck, which can quickly result in an injured or dead fish. When it was in the tank I had put little “bumpers” around it with sponge to prevent my betta from doing so (which I will add, the sponge used as a bumper collected more debris and staining than the sponge inside the actual filter)While I like the idea of it, size and fact you can store media in it; the actual filtration (and design) needs improvements.Returning.

Great for the price
Good small circulates the water. A little bigger than I thought looking for something to keep in a 1.5 gallon vase to make a zoa garden with no fish. The price was exactly what I wanted to pay

Little larger than I thought
I bought this for our shrimp tank. I really like that I can add bio media in it as well. The bio balls seem good quality but I actually replaced them with crushed coral to help regulate the ph. I’m replacing a regular sponge filter with it.So far it puts out a lot of larger bubbles but that’s fine, but does make it just a bit louder than the previous filter. Not obnoxiously so, but noticeable. It will be more complicated to clean this one than the previous filter as well, but again since I can use the bio media I’m okay with that.I can’t speak to how well it works yet, the old filter was actually pretty good at keeping the tank clean, and the sponge on this filter is half the size. I’m hoping this works well, fingers crossed 🤞🏻
