Beautifully presented. High quality in every way. Really thick paper. The sleeve that mimics a NES case is a nice touch. Think I'll buy the SNES version now...

It looks like a giant cartridge!
I still own my NES, and I'm surprised at how many games in this book I have. Quite a few are also available in the mini-nes, so the play through and maps make it pretty useful. Unfortunately, like most of these books, it's heavily biased to America. Several games that should be in this book are missing. Micromachines, Elite and Pirates were some of the most influential games to have appeared on the NES, even though they were mostly played in Europe. Unfortunately most Americans haven't heard of these games, except for the later updated versions. Still, this is a good looking book, with plenty of background information on the NES and its history. If you're a Nintendo fan, or you know one, this is a nice addition to your collection.

Great!... it does miss a few titles on the 30 games NES Classic Mini but it is pretty comprehensive!

Don't judge a book by it's slipcover!
Being really excited about this book in relation to celebrating 30 years of the NES, when it arrived today I thought it looked really good! The hardcover casing was a nice print and well detailed. If only the insides were as good... Opening the book, the inside cover had recieved spinal damage. Flicking through the book it seems that the colouring was poor, page quality was bordering on horrendous to the point it looks like there are sections that have had new parts simply glued on top of the page. I have already found misprints, rips, and that is just from a quick flick through. A nice idea, but I am greatly disappointed with the execution of this - as a collectors piece more effort should have gone into it.

Disapointing for an official Nintendo product
Quite disappointing for an official Nintendo book but still has a lot of good content even if some of it is missing. Money can be much better spent on the unnofficial bitmap book of the NES.

Im Fahrtwasser des Mini-NES kommt dieses Buch daher - entgegen der ersten Vermutung kein historischer Abriss über die NES-Ära, sondern ein Lösungsbuch für die Miniatur-Ausgabe der kultigen 8bit-Konsole. Von den 30 installierten Spielen der Neuauflage werden 17 Titel im Buch mit Lösungswegen und Tipps bedacht - und zwar ausschließlich jene, die von Nintendo selbst stammen. "Castlevania", "Bubble Bobble" oder "Final Fantasy" finden sich nicht. Je nach Spiel sind die Tipps mal sehr dürftig ("Dr. Mario"), mal äußerst umfangreich ("Zelda II: Link's Adventure", "Super Mario Bros. 3") oder dem Spielumfang angemessen ("Metroid") ausgefallen. Levelkarten, kleinere Cheats und versteckte Boni führen den Spieler nicht nur am roten Faden entlang des Spiels zum Ziel, sondern garnieren den Retro-Tipp mit kleinen Schlenkern, um alle Geheimnisse der liebgewonnenen Klassiker zu entdecken. Komplettiert wird das Buch durch eine Vorstellung der Hardware-Plattform NES, Einblicken in die Modul-Struktur und kleinen historischen Abrissen zur Früh-, Hoch- und Spätphase des NES. Einige der Texte wurden von Garitt Rocha und Nick von Esmarch neu auf Englisch verfasst, andere alten Nintendo-Zeitschriften entliehen - das kann man mögen oder nicht, letztlich ist es "nur" eine nette Ergänzung. Das "Behind the scenes with Shigeru Miyamoto"-Special ist für Neueinsteiger eine kleine Fundgrube an Anekdoten und Einblicken, während Fans und Kenner den Artikel aus der "Nintendo Power Magazin" von Januar/Februar 1990 kennen dürften. Etwas enttäuschend. Die Aufmachung ist grandios. Das Layout ist klar und verständlich, die Screenshots plausibel - besonders gelungen ist der Pappschuber im Design einer NES-Cartridge, in dem das eigentliche Buch verschwinden kann und sicher vor Lagerspuren ist. Negativ: Einige Artworks (etwa Metroid) entstammen nicht der NES-Ära, das Papier ist generell sehr dünn. Für den Preis aber eine Top-Investition, die sich - wie eingangs erwähnt - für Käufer des Mini-NES rentiert.

article livré détérioré avec trace d humidité. la couverture et déchire au niveau de toute la longueur de la tranche a l intérieur ( entre la couverture et la première page) les pages sont gondolées . je n ai pas pu demander de recours car ouvert en ce jour ( cadeau de noel ) Bref une belle arnaque !
