It will serve you well

I am a fan of notebook (and also a pen-addict.. there a worse addiction, right?!), I usually use Moleskine notebooks.I wanted to find a good alternative, and I have to say that this Silvine Executive Notebook is brilliant, it looks nice and feels nice, and the price is fantastic for the quality!Nice yellow-ish colour lined paper (slightly larger than the equivalent Moleskine), 29 lines per page that are 7mm apart, the notebook opens widely and lies flat on its own, great for notes on your travels or at work. The cover feels less like leather than more expensive notebooks, but the build quality is excellent and very solid.Additional positive aspect: it was delivered on time and in great condition.I highly recommend it to who is looking for a good alternative to more expensive notebooks.

Good for the price, decent quality

Definitely a nice notebook, elegant looking and practical. Like the previous reviewer, I'm mainly comparing it to the Moleskine Ruled Notebook (13 x 21cm), since the design is so similar between the two (elastic band to keep it shut, pocket inside the back cover, soft leather immitation cover). The Moleskine is twice the price so it's maybe a bit unfair, but I have both so I may as well compare. In terms of the paper, there's not as much bleed-through on the Silvine as on the Moleskine when using a fountain pen, since the paper is thicker. The ink is lightly visible on the other side, but you can still write on it. Personally, I can write on both sides of the page with both brands and the writing is perfectly legible but I think this is something which concerns some people with the Moleskine. The paper generally feels quite nice to me, and is different to write on than the Moleskine. It's maybe a bit coarser, which I suppose is a matter of personal preference. The paper is an off-white sort of colour, I think the Moleskine is a bit more white. The build quality of the Silvine is definitely inferior to its more expensive rival... The cover of the Moleskine looks and feels more like leather, whereas when you look closely at the Silvine it's more obviously some kind of plastic. The difference in quality/precision of assembly is plain to see. That's not to say that the Silvine is an ugly notebook at all, but it's definitely easy to distinguish which one is more expensive. Freed of comparison though, the Silvine does look nice and professional. The tan colour looks less orange in real life than it did on my monitor, it's more a light brown leather colour.Overall, I think I prefer writing in the Moleskine, even if I do sometimes hesitate about using both sides of the page with a fountain pen. I do, however, think that this is a worthwhile purchase, particularly if you aren't completely sold on the whole 'premium stationary' thing.

The pages have a nice feel to them too

Lovely feel to cover for a notebook of this price, an unexpected pocket inside the back cover for loose items.A ribbon marker and plus the elastic closure piece, which I was using as a place marker till I discovered the ribbon tucked away. The pages doesn't leak ink through to the next page with most gel pens but with one very loose inky uniball ink pen it isn't leaking through but you can see outline from the other side. The pages have a nice feel to them too, plenty of them.A great buy and for the kind of journal I want it is perfect.I'm going to order another one. I am impressed with the value for money.

Another re-order

I am very particular about notebooks. I can't seem to use notebooks with stark white paper or sharp corners. This is a great paper quality that is not stark white and rounded corners. The quality is fantastic as is the price.

- Cover feels nice and the notebook definitely looks more expensive than it ...

Just as described:- Cover feels nice and the notebook definitely looks more expensive than it is (multiple friends have mistook it for a moleskine!)- Paper is of good weight with a creamy colour and smooth texture.- No trouble with ink bleeding through. I tend to use staedtler fineliners and on lighter-weight paper the ink bleeds through making it impossible to use both sides of the paper.- It has 160 pages which might be a problem for some, but I'm happy as the book is lighter and thinner so easier to carry around. Also (as mentioned above) I can write on both sides so I don't feel that running out of paper will be too much of an issue.- For the price I'm very happy and will certainly buy again.

Very pleasant to work with, at a good price

I tend to write lots of scrappy notes in A4 pads, but for a new project I wanted to have a more formal notebook that I could use to collate less disposable thoughts. And for that, this is perfect. It feels pleasant to use and hold, and writing in it seems like much ore of an event, much more worthy of consideration and thought, than just scrawling on scrap paper or a cheap pad. And yet the price really isn't bad at all! Very happy.
