This is a beautiful book. Saw a copy on the coffee table of my in-laws and decided I had to have one for myself. Makes a nice gift book for people who truly love books and reading. Interesting and in-depth discussion of what seems to be the whole world history of the greatest books ever. Has a nice feel, solid, good quality paper and vivid illustrations. I don't buy many "coffee table" type books but this one is a gem. It makes me want to go out and get many of the books or if I have them, to read them today. That makes it a five as it inspires you -- in the antique sense of "breathing the breath of life" into you, as it makes you want to expand yourself.

What makes a book great? Why is it included in a summary? Are there other books that should be included? The first two questions are straight forward and address in detail within the book. The third question is not answered but entered my mind as I read the write up of the included books. In short, the book makes you think and gives an understanding where we are in Western culture thanks to the detail of the reviewed books.

The cover of this book is beautiful. The book’s cover colors are so rich & the design beautiful. It compliments my decor beautifully. I thought there would be more photos but it’s more reading. Still a Stunning Book to display.

This is a beautiful and very fun book for any book-lover. As somebody else pointed out, the information about each book is sometimes superficial and I have even detected a few inaccuracies or mistakes, but I don't consider that as a huge problem. I think the idea behind a book like this is to whet your appetite: all the books included are very famous, so, if there is one you want more information about, there are plenty of online sources and you can even find free digital copies or at least high quality images to download from some libraries' websites.

Affordable, when you price compare! Came in perfect condition. Really cool book, gave it as a gift, and she was obsessed with it!

I did not realize that this was several titles in the same volume. I was looking for a set of separate books, so I was disappointed.
