Great for kids with severe autism
Bought this for my son who is 10, and it’s fantastic for him! As indicated by the title, my son has severe autism, so I was concerned, I wouldn’t be able to find any material, this, however, was fantastic!!!

Fun but too fast and easy
I got this for my 5-yr old who has not yet started school. He is not great at reading yet, so I had to read the instructions for each page to him. Even if he had started school, some of the words used would be beyond the expected reading skills of the specified 5-6 yr old age group, so they will probably need some help with that. However, the activities themselves were generally too easy for him. He flew through them very quickly. Sometimes it took me longer to read what he was supposed to do than for him to actually do it. There’s were few activities that took any significant amount of time. On the bright side, it seemed to boost his confidence because he found everything to be so easy. 🤷♀️He did learn some new science words during the process and seemed to be enjoying himself. This book was successful at making science fun but it could have had more challenging or time consuming activities.

Fun Pages That Combine Science Proficiency With Play
Not all workbooks are created equal—we try to find ones that mix fun into learning. This science kindergarten workbook does that, and it’s not just for kindergarten-ready kids. The suggested age range is 5-6 (which I think is spot on), but some 4 year olds could certainly tackle many of the pages.I like how well laid out this book is—science concepts are divided and color coded, and activities within each start out easy and progressively get more difficult. Some pages seem too easy for our five year old, but other concepts she has to think about. For instance, one page simply asks kids to circle the eyes in the picture, while another page presents two shadows made from directional lights—kids need to determine which shadow is going in the wrong direction, given the way the light is shining on the object. General topics about life science, earth/space and physical science are all presented in this book, and it's best used with some parental guidance.I appreciate that reward stars are to be colored by children rather than having a sticker on each page. Our five year old gets a real sense of satisfaction filling in her stars when she has completed a page. She’s really looking forward to having all 101 stars eventually colored in. There’s lots to do in this book, and each activity is educational as well as fun.

Simple activites which are great at building confidence
I grabbed this book because I'm always on the lookout for new learning options that can keep my little kid engaged. One of the best ways I've found to keep the little one engaged is when she sees 'progress' or success. So this is a great workbook for a young kid that you want to engage and keep it that way. Sure a lot of these are pretty simple, don't take long, and can mostly be managed by her alone, but each time she did one and got to see a result she got excited and wanted to do more later. That works great. I can build her confidence here with this level of book and continue to harder things when the urge to just quit at first issue isn't as strong. The activities themselves are not super complicated by far and for us adults should seem quite silly sometimes but think of the audience and that confidence is worth it. Price wise this is fine for a workbook. I normally pay between 8-16$ for workbooks and don't expect to outfit a classroom or pass them down to future kids. So this falls into my expectations. Overall I'm happy with it, she loved finishing the whole book, and we've since bought more - worth it to me.

A little hard for 4 yr old, well made
Update: 1 yr since my original review, my child is 5 yrs old, about to start Kindergarten in 2 wks and this work book is the best thing ever. We do several pages each night before going to bed, and my kid absolutely loves it. He actually listens and gets ready for bed so that we can do the workbook, as a “reward.” Since summer camps have been basically all play, this book allows us to refresh on basic concepts and numbers and letters, all hidden amongst fun activities.Original review:Reading age “5-6 years old from customers”, it says on the product page right now, and that sounds right on. My 4 yr old can do some of the activities with an adult but a lot of the concepts are a little out of reach of his understanding. So just a little older would be great, while much older would find connecting the dots under challenging. The concepts are lofty (solar angle!) but finely illustrated! Well thought out and designed book, great for summer vacation months.
