Safco Onyx Rolling File Cart with 4 File Drawers, Fits Letter-Size Hanging Folders, Durable Steel Mesh Construction

This is the third Safco mesh cart that I've purchased. It is not perfect, but it works well enough. It's easy to assemble and I like that the drawers open from either side of the cart. It's not super solid, but it works for my purposes. (Always roll it with both hands if on carpet.) I'm disappointed that they still haven't gotten the drawer slides right. They are ALWAYS bent, which makes for difficult operation. Also, the bottom drawer is a tiny bit wide for hanging file folders, which is a pain, but manageable.

I expected to find the assembly to be difficult and exasperating. Wrong! It was a breeze.

I was able to easily assemble this cart, with one exception. There are acorn nuts for the ends of the brackets. They are in pairs. One bracket of one pair was not threaded correctly, and it's not possible to get the nut, or another nut I had, on it to secure it. But, since they are in pairs, I assume the nut on the other bracket will hold.I'm using it in my shed to hold garden gloves, clippers, trowels, etc. It's got plenty of capacity, and surely could hold heavier items with no problem.I like that there are locks on one set of wheels.My only complaint about the design is that there are no "stops" on the drawers. If it was up against a wall, I guess that wouldn't be an issue, but my cart is not. Therefore, it's super easy to push the drawers out the back end of the cart -also, they slide very easily, and can easily be pulled all the way out. My solution was to put tiny bungee cords across the back of each drawer to keep it from falling out.

I bought this product for two reasons: it has wheels, and it got mesh drawers. Both of those features meet most of my needs mostly perfectly. The wheels annoyingly lock on their own pretty much every time I move the cart.The mesh drawers do exactly what I need, but make sure to set the drawers on a flat surface if you remove them. The bottoms don't really lock into place, so they're only held by gravity and weight of anything in them. Like SO many people have mentioned, there are no stops on the drawer slides. This makes removing the drawer from either side completely viable, but I've found it's better to put zip ties on the slides as quasi-stops. Many others did that same thing. Works great.The top of the cart is the most useless and frustrating part for me. It's not a good place to store anything small, because small things will slide right off under the bars, as there are no sides.The price for this unit was quite steep in my opinion, especially given how flimsy the thing is. That being said, nothing has broken yet, and we've had it for a while, full of stuff!

Safeco black mesh cart w/1-file drawer and 2 smaller drawers: I read many reviews for this and similar products before buying. Easy to assemble even for 73-year-old me. It's even better than I expected, nice smooth mesh, easy slide drawers. I took advice from another reviewer and used 3 small bungee cords to prevent drawers sliding out the back, perfect solution!Was worried about the file drawer not properly holding hanging file folders because of some other reviews but although I can see what they mean, mine works fine for me (letter-size hanging files). I actually like that the files don't slip and slide too easily.Some people had asked if drawers can change position and YES, file drawer can be at bottom (my preferred position because of the weight of the files), in the middle, or on top.I had to call to ask one question: they don't tell you in the instructions that you need a rubber hammer (or something similar) to force the casters all the way down into the holes (2 locking casters go on front legs, regular casters on back legs). Unless you pound them down flush, the casters will be useless.Would definitely buy again. I'm very happy with my purchase. Thank you Safeco and Amazon!

I like this product so much that I might buy others by Safeco.The 4 drawers each have a capacity of 16"x12"x4". They slide easily and you can pull them completely out from either side. I can put a 15" diagonal laptop on the top shelf or in a drawer with room to spare. I have a large case that is 15 1/2" x 11 1/2" x 3 1/2" and it fits with no problem.The cart is light weight but quite sturdy. You can fill each drawer with paper and put a couple of reams of paper on the top shelf, about 50 lbs. Its a bit wobbly but the 16 bolts that hold it together make it strong enough. Like any such cart, if you fill the top shelf and drawers but leave the lower drawers empty it does have a tendency to tip.The cart moves easily on smooth floors on 4 castors (2 locking). To move it on a carpet you might have to lift one side a bit.(Hint: if you do have it on a carpet, you might glue the locks open otherwise they become a nuisance.)The assembly is easy. It takes about 1/2 to 1 hr. The parts are symmetrical so that you don't have any problem matching parts. It does need a 3/8" (?) socket to tighten the 16 bolts (you can get a small set of sockets for $10 or $15 and they do not have to be heavy weight). It seems to me that the bottom of the shelves should be put in mesh side up for longer life.My only caveat is that there are no stops on the front or rear of the drawers so that the drawers can slip out if you are not careful.

I like this storage unit because it fits under my desk and it rolls out easily. However, when I put the plastic tabs on the hanging file folders they get stuck on the top part of the unit and is frustrating.

Nice cart that seems a little lightweight but I am not asking it to carry a lot of weight. the only design issue I have is that there is nothing "behind" the drawer to stop it from coming out the other side and landing in the floor if you "close" it aggressively. Open design makes it easy to see what is inside so you know which drawer contains the item you are looking to find.

the casters easily fall out if you lift the cart; letter size hanging folders are not secure as the frame is too wide.Easy to build, nice to look at but i cannot hang files in the drawer as it is too wide for letter size

Just what I wanted. Good quality and just the right height to fit under my desk. If I could change one thing, I'd tell them to add a block to stop the drawers when they are in. Since it doesn't have a back, you can pull the drawers out from the front or the back. I guess you can push the back of the unit against a wall if you don't like being able to push the drawer in too far.My desk is a lot tidier than it use to be.Edited to add: I took some pliers and squeezed the drawer slide channels at the back. Now the drawers just slide in against and line up nicely at the front. Voila!
