I really like this book - it seems to be pretty polarizing in the reviews so far, but I'm a fan. I didn't expect to rehaul my closet in a week off of this, and if you're looking for a true "find your style" or "DIY closet rehaul," you won't find it here. This is more of a book that encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone, and gives you tips on how to do that. Lots of the trends she mentions are just those - trends - so this isn't really a "classics" book, either. I still like it though, because it's different from all of the other style books out there that give you Style Personality Types or a list of 100 things everyone should have in their closet (I'm looking at you, Nina). I appreciate that the author acknowledges that not everyone has the same lifestyle, taste, or body type, and therefore, we don't all need the same wardrobe. I've definitely been inspired to take a few risks and see what's out there, as I tend to fall into fashion ruts easily. If you know what you're buying and want this kind of guide, you'll love the book!

I've been a fan of Dallas Shaw's work for years. I've met her once and she's one of the nicest and chic-est people. So, when she announced that she was working on a book, I was stalking Amazon for a pre-order. I finally pre-ordered in August of 2016, waited for months and was not disappointed! The book is gorgeous - everything from photos to illustrations is just a work of art. The writing content is very good, too (lots of great information and tips/tricks). Normally with this type of book I would really only look at photos and skim the text, but reading this book felt like chatting with Dallas (if you've never talked to her, she's very fun and easy to talk to and that comes through in her writing). The only thing that I wish was different is the size of the book. I love the photos/illustrations, so I would have liked to see them slightly bigger.

Very disappointed - it starts out with describing the envy we have of the woman in the room that everyone is drawn to because she is so put together. Yes, because she knows how to dress her body shape in the current fashions, which is what I was hoping for from this book and how to adapt current fashion to your body shape, height, etc. Instead, its a very current fashion (ripped jeans, floral patterns, etc.) book on how to put those pieces together. I have found better advice on this from StyleWatch. InStyle currently has a piece on the kimono jacket in their April 2017 issue. This book (yes with the great photos) will be dated by the end of the year once the current trends have moved on to something else. My advice would be spend your dollars on fashion magazines for this type of thing. With the Kindle edition, the pages don't seem to flow properly and the text on the page does not match the photo, until you scroll to the next page and find that the photo was for that text instead.

I loved this book! I almost purchased this for full price at BAN but found it on Amazon for half the price. Score! This book is a quick, easy read with loads of helpful guides and how-to’s. She gives fashion and make up advice season by season which is exactly what I was looking for. However, I do wish the illustrations reflected the outfits she was describing. It was hard at times to visualize the outfits she was putting together without visual assistance. I loved the advice nonetheless and will be returning again and again for outfit inspo.

I loved this book....the author is so creative and playful with the book, her ideas and challenges. It definitely has helped me to define my style, let go of the things that didn't suit me, and to have fun acquiring some quality new and secondhand pieces that are "me". My closet is now minimized to just the things I love that make me feel good and fit great, and even though I now have LESS clothing, when I look in my closet, I just have so many things to wear and new outfits to put together, when I used to look and feel like I had nothing to wear even t hough my closet was brimming over. I had a lot of fun with the little challenges and stepping out of my comfort zone to try new things.

This is simply a delightful book filled with lovely hand drawn illustrations by the author, Dallas Shaw. Only in her early 30's, Ms. Shaw has achieved influence and respect within the lifestyle/ fashion industry major brands and houses who recognize and appreciate her effortless style. Her recommendations encompass current trends with a nod to their timeless appeal as evidenced by roles played in various periods in fashion history. For example, the kimono besides being an essential piece throughout Japanese history enjoyed a resurgence of popularity in early 1900's/ 20s western fashion as well as a beloved article in today's wardrobe, particularly bohemian. Everyone with an interest in fashion including design and illustration will appreciate the style tips and suggestions that Ms. Shaw provides the fashion/ lifestyle industry and now places in their hands.

UNPLEASANT TO HOLD AND READ. As for the content, the target audience is mostly 20-something, who would probably be better served just joining the author's blog. I enjoyed reading her answer (Page 9) to, "Remember when personal style seemed so much easier?" (With so many choices, websites, magazines, etc., it has gotten harder!). Also, recommend going thru the table of contents carefully, then flipping to the section you want.

This is a quick read and nicely presented. Probably not going to change your life but I picked up a few bits of inspiration from it

J'ai commandé ceci juste avant de faire des achats pour l'automne/hiver. Mme. Shaw m'a donné un bien autre regard sur ce que je porte et j'ai créé un "nouveau" look avec un pull noir en cashmere + jupe en dentelle et bottes à lacets. Ce que j'adore, c'est qu'elle donne énormément de suggestions et avec un humour féroce. Beaucoup de photos, beaucoup d'inspiration. Elle n'oublie surtout pas le quotidien et le weekend, ainsi que comment être chic quand il fait super froid. On peux changer son look avec un tout petit budget (ou un grand, voilà, je 'ai dit!)Je pense commander ce livre pour ma fille aussi.
