They grip and pull the zip tie flawlessly.
My purchase, March 2023. After trying other iterations of this tool, I finally bought this design and it does just as I need. My main use is to attach small rubber hose to the outside of steel tubing with 1/4" cable ties, or zip ties are we call them. The tie has to collapse the rubber hose at the point of fasten. To do this, the tie has to be pulled to near it's limit. Before buying this Zhushan design, I was having issues breaking ties and/or cutting them after tension. With this tool, I still have to be careful with the tension as this design does not have a way to preset tension, which would increase the mass or size of the tool and make it difficult to fit into many places. However, this is a small trade off that my usage can afford.Once tensioned, the cutter on this Zhushan works very well. Remember, this price point will only afford you so much, so though the cutter works awesome, it is not a true, or high end, flush cut. So there will be a very small nub at the point of cut, but the cutter on my Zhushan does such a good job actually cutting the tie tail, that it is acceptable. In other words, the cut is square and not smashed sharp like so many other tie cutters. So for use home owner types, or users that can't afford nor have the actual need for the high end very expensive zip tie tools, this one works, and should be considered. 2 thumbs up, and if I need another one, I will definitely look for this Zhushan again.

Great Tool
Pro: Quality tool, works right every time, requires only one hand to operateCon: Pulls the tie tight before cutting it off - no way to leave slack in the tie.Figured this would be a luxury item for my toolbox.I find myself using it nearly every time I'm working with tie wraps.Cannot recommend this tool strongly enough.

A little buggy, but is a help if you're persistent
It's a little buggy; you have to fiddle with it to get it to grab the zip tie for tightening - but it works, eventually. I found it necessary to tighten the zip tie with pliers BEFORE applying this tool, which almost negates its usefulness in the guest place, but it DOES tighten the zip tie beyond what I could achieve with pliers, so, "That'll do, Pig. That'll do." I was able to fix something that had a BROKEN WELD, with ZIP TIES, so, yeah: I'll keep this!
