Great look back into history about lost ways on the farms. Got some good ideas and laughed from this book

We gave this book to my son's 3rd grade teacher for Christmas and he really enjoyed the book. He is an antique farm equipment history buff and has a whole collection of "old" tools and implements that he leaves in his classroom for kids to explore and guess what their uses were. He found many items in this book that he remembered as a kid or had seen in antique stores. Finally, a teacher gift that will get put to use!

Lacking a time machine, this book is the next best thing. You can almost imagine what it was like to be a farmer 120 years ago. Except maybe the lack of electricity, hot showers, and sprinting to the outhouse in the cold of winter.

Always good to learn about tools that I often wondered how they were used.

I purchased one copy for personal interest and another one on behalf of the Florida Pioneer Museum In Florida City Florida. As an agricultural community this book will be a valuable resource to identify items on our collection.

i thought this book would have a greater volume of information. Was somewhat lacking in content but like i said its ok. What it does contain is pretty descent.

Wonderful book on farm tools and what they were used for. Detailed accounts. Great for a prepper who might have to use them when the electricity goes out.

perfect in every ways

the book is a true copy of a 19th century farm catalogue, it show original descriptions and prices. Some really interesting entries for those interested in the history of agriculture. One item is a bit that fits in a chicken's beak to stop them feather pulling!It is interesting too to see how the basic principles of farm tools (harrows, ploughs, muck spreaders etc) haven't changed a great deal; they have just got bigger and are pulled by tractors now not horses!All in all very interesting.
