The Textile Artist: Sculptural Textile Art: A practical guide to mixed media wire sculpture

Great pictures and directions for very unique sculpture. I have tried the guided direction (easy to follow) and done a few pieces of my own,... but have found the pieces are very DELICATE. The guided structures can be adapted to different mediums.I love a good challenge and this is a media that will take practice and decepline. BUT I LOVE EDWARDS BOOK and her work is beautiful and I so like it when someone shares some beautiful works of Art that is creative and inspirational !

This is a very well written and photographed book. The focus is wire sculpture, fabric (some waxed) and all sorts of bits to embellish the created pieces. It is very comprehensive with clear instructions. Lots of encouragement and thoughts on creativity included!

Not worth the price. This is mostly a coffee table book of the artist's completed work. There are 128 pages however there are only six (6) projects with instructions. The book includes:6 pages of wire bending techniques2 pages of how to use a wax mixture to apply fabric to the wire sculptures3 pages of instructions re: hand stitching/embroideryI do not see a recipe or measurements of the proportions of paraffin wax to use with the bee's wax, and the project instructions refer to "packs" of wire but do not state the total number of wire pieces needed to complete a project.

Wish that there had been more pages available to review prior to purchasing. There are an awful lot of projects which have to do with doll heads which is nothing I'm interested in. That said, there is some pretty solid info on the basic techniques to make the book worth while.
