Seven Days that Divide the World, 10th Anniversary Edition: The Beginning According to Genesis and Science

A Balance, Irenic, Conversation about Genesis with a Christian Scientist
I over this book because it carefully and respectfully lays out key observations one must consider before reading a position on how the seven days of creation in Genesis 1 are to be interpreted. Lennox carefully differentiates between a literal and a literalistic approach, then examines the advantages and disadvantages of various positions. Of particular value to me was the discussion of the gradual acceptance of the Copernican model by the church over time. The discoveries of science eventually enabled believers in God's Word to see that verses referring to the immovability of the earth were metaphors of its stability, not literalistic descriptions of its immobility in space! Christians should not fear scientific truths. I still be giving copies of this book to friends who have newly discovered a personal relationship with Christ, and are confused by the variety of interpretations of Genesis.

We Have A God Who Loves Us More Than We Can Fathom
This a very well written book about the clear fact of God bring active in the creation of the World. He did it all just for us. We matter and we have purpose. Science and Christianity not only can coexist, but science proves that there is a Creator who cares about us. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. Thank you John Lennox for clearly and reasonably stating the interrelationship with God and Science.

Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. Lennox is a genius scientist and faithful scholar of the word
Moving from a strict creationist position to openness to theistic evolution I wanted something meaty, scientific and conservative in handling the word. Someone who wouldn't airbrush the challenges facing theistic evolutionists and the Apostle Paul's and the Lord Jesus' approach to Adam and the Fall and Death. Lennox does it brilliantly. He stands for science. And he stands for biblical truth. And rather than turn a blind eye to the bible-wide difficulties of theistic evolution he presents a brilliant parallel reading of them. He provides reason to believe scientific discoveries and biblical truth side by side. No compromise is necessary. No giving up on biblical truth is necessary. The two marry up beautifully. Lennox shows that with his brilliant brain...mind :) Love the book. Love the man.
