Kwikset Juno Knob and Double Cylinder Deadbolt Combo Pack Featuring SmartKey 992J 15 SMT CP, Satin Nickel

I picked up a pair of these for the new house. They look great and were easy to install. I choose this particular set because of the re-key feature. Luckily, I have not had to re-key them yet but nice to know I can if I need to.Update: Almost three years later and these knobs have held up very well. No rust in sight and they still look great! I still haven’t had a chance to re-key them but I may try it out soon because I’m curious as to how it works and if it works well. Please read description the deadbolt does require the key it does not have the little knob that you can turn and unlock it you have to have the key I’m not a big fan of this design because if you had to get out in the middle of the night for an emergency reason or whatever if you cannot find your keys you’re locked in your house. So please read the description to make sure that that is something that you were OK with me I’m personally not great Sturdy hardware as quickset has done for many years

I purchased this double cylinder combo pack for a new door being installed off my kitchen. I was not aware, but was told after searching big box stores, that double cylinder deadbolts are hard to find due to residential fire codes; you aren't allowed to have them because you need the key to get out. Well, if you have a door with six panels windows, you need a double cylinder or it defeats the purpose: break glass, put hand through, turn lock, open door.OK, install was a PAIN! My contractor installed the deadbolt and the first night told me the casing was supposed to spin, it was a security feature. The casing on both sides (inside and outside) spun freeley and the loose, was not flush again the door. Um, no, I don't think so. The next day he begrudgingly took it apart to fix it after me telling him not acceptable. He was not happy (still not happy - won't talk with me...oh well). It took him a LONG TIME to install this deadbolt. From what I can gather, it is hard to line up everything so that it fits as the double cylinder feature has small holes that are hard to see. It took the contractor and his assistant working together on this for I would honestly say about 2 hours to install correctly, he took it apart and started over many times. He is a full time renovation expert and was very frustrated. Of course I believe had he kept the directions it probably would have been a lot easier. Sometimes people that do stuff all the time think they know how to do something and they don't.Please note that once the lock was installed properly, the lock fits snugly on both sides and no spinning casing! I read a review on here from someone saying that theirs spins. It was not properly installed, it does NOT spin if installed properly.I don't think installation of this is a huge issue if you read the directions and think the average joe/jane can install, just read the directions first. Also, the first time my contractor installed he used a one way screw. I don't know if this came with the lock originally, but if you mess up, you need the correct tool to unscrew. Either get the tool or don't use the one way screws! Just a hint...

I am very happy with this purchase. I purchased two sets for an apartment attached to my home. Thankfully Amazon sent me two keyed alike sets, which saved me from having to key them alike myself. I also now have 4 keys which is always nice. This is certainly not the quality of a Schlage, but the ability to rekey these locks was what sold me in the first place. It feels like some pieces are made of very cheap aluminum, however looking at them, they look great. Install as another poster wrote was a bit of a pain for the first set. After that I did the second set in about 10 minutes. This product is not easy to find locally (double deadbolt), so once again, Amazon for the win!

Love the smartkey feature. I installed four of these locks, was very easy and matched up to 17 year old locks very well. The deadbolt kick-plate is twice as secure as the old one with two long substantial screws plus two standard size screws used. The old one just had two small brass screws.I had to flip the cylinder on three of these and with online videos it was very easy. Kwickset sent me a cylinder tool for free, but you can use a screwdriver and do the same thing. Overall I'm very impressed with the lock and feels very solid.

I popped these in on a 25 year-old house with only a single complication. The deadbolt plate on my current door frame was a different size. I certainly could have left the current one but I choose to chisel it out and replace with the higher security.The instructions weren't bad but I had to scratch my head a bit to understand the part where I had to pull off the faceplate of the deadbolt on the inside to access the long high-security screw holes.I've yet to try the Smartkey, but will soon as I buy more sets and need to consolidate keys. I was lucky enough to find the exact cut key at my local Lowe's that included 4 more keys so I have 6 now.

I originally went to replace one of my 13 year old Weiser door handle as the knob had completely fallen off. To my surprise, Weiser had changed their lock set to the SmartKey system and I was unable to find a compatible lock that used the old Wieser key. So I was going to have to change all the locks on my house.I purchased another Weiser door handle from a local big box hardware store. What a piece of junk. It had to be installed upside down as that was the only way it would go in, and the instructions included made mention of that as well. After it was installed, it felt cheap in my hand as I turned the door knob. Even after locking it, my 8 year old son was able to twist it enough to get the lock to open when it was in the lock position. Needless to say I took it back for a refund.I found this Kwikset 992 Juno Entry Knob and Double Cylinder Deadbolt Combo Pack here on Amazon. After a bit of research, it looked like a good buy. I purchased two sets.Super easy installation. Took less than 10 minutes to replace the deadbolts and the door knobs in two different doors. They feel strong in the hand and work flawlessly, exactly what you'd expect from a door lock handle and deadbolt. The Smartkey feature is super easy to use as well.I'm going to purchase a third set for my french doors on my deck.

I converted the cottage doors to these locks. The key customization is so easy to perform! One key for all locks. Really neat feature. Obviously, it is offered by other manufaturers but way better than having to get a lock smith to do the job.

It works as claimed. Easy to install. Not used to the Satin Nickle color yet.
