A necessity if you plan to install pallet wood walls
I have been building out the interior of my 900 sq. ft. cabin. Initially, I planned on installing luxury paneling. However, I was unable to find what I wanted within a 150 mile radius. Then I saw an ad for free pallets - all I want for free! Hmmmm... the light bulb came on.The problem I had was my receptacle boxes were fixed boxes and would not allow for the furring strips and pallet wood planks I would be installing. So, I ordered these adjustable Carlon B121ADJ Outlet Boxes. to replace the original boxes.Installation was relatively easy - pull the nails on the old boxes and set the new boxes in with wood screws. Now the box will adjust to the new thickness of the furring strips and pallet planks. These boxes are well designed, built well, and the perfect solution for me.

Not what I expected
This is a sturdy electrical box. Not sure where these are made but here are some things to be aware of: The sharp metal tabs on the side do not engage on a normal 2x4 or the 1 1/2 inches of a typical 2 by. This means that you can't just tie this on the wood and then secure with screws or nails. You have to hold the box to the wood and screw or nail it down. I think this is poor design. I like the idea of the adjustability from the face of the stud. In my case I could adjust it a full 1 inch from the face of the stud to account for two sheets of 1/2 inch drywall. This being said, you can't install this backward from the unfinished side of the wall and expect to adjust the box to the face of the drywall on the opposite side (If you played with this like I have, you would know what I'm talking about). The final thing I don't like is that the knock outs are cheaply made. If you cut two of the four attachments to the box body, the remaining two flimsy connections are insufficient to hold the Romex in place.

Easy-to-install gang box
I bought this together with Leviton 84020-40 1-Gang Locking 1.60 Inch Dia. Device Receptacle Wallplate, Standard Size, Device Mount, Stainless Steel and Leviton 2320 20 Amp, 250 Volt, Flush Mounting Locking Receptacle, Grounding, Industrial Grade, V-0-MAX, Black and they work fine together. Punch hole through the back of the box, run 12/2 wire (2 phases plus ground) in, strip ends, screw down to socket, use screws included with socket to attach socket to box, use screws included with faceplate to attach faceplate to socket. Easy as pie.I only expected (and received) one gang box as a part of my order. I'm not sure why it's listed as a 24-pack; the same item number used to refer to a single unit. The bracket has hooks which dig into the stud to hold it while you put more screws in. You can put four screws to hold it quite tightly; the installed unit doesn't wobble much. The holes in the bottom are easy to punch out, and the whole thing is pretty sturdy plastic.

I hate drywall! I hate drywall
I hate drywall! I hate drywall! I hate drywall! When I remodeled I replaced the electrical boxes that rely on "pinching" the drywall to stay in place with these that mount to the wall stud. Drywall is such an inferior building material. It cracks, crumbles, and has no structural integrity. I know it has some redeeming qualities but you would think that with today's technology they would find another material that had all the good properties of drywall and none of the bad. These boxes get their support from the stud and are adjustable to fit flush with any wall material. They do not have to touch the crumbly drywall at all!

Not all sockets fit in this box
I had to install a socket in a board of unknown thickness so I bought this box because it can handle variable thickness of the wall. Unfortunately the adjustment screw is on the INSIDE of the box. If you are going to put some of the new sockets in which have straight sides they might not fit because they hit the plastic around the thickness adjustment screw. Also it would be much better if you could adjust for thickness on both sides, not just on one side.
