Thoroughly enjoyable reading
Read it in one go - the story moves with a good pace, not too violent, the outcome was unexpected (in hindsight, as always - should have seen it, the clues were all there!). Police procedure is clear and logical and there is a nice team of detectives, whose work doesn`t suffer from serious drinking problems or personal issues. And I really like the atmosphere of the series, it feels like reality. A book you can believe. So, five stars from me.

The 5th of 7 Chilling British Crime Series! . Enjoy!
“Hear No Evil” is the fourth novel I have read in this series by J. M. Dalgliesh’s. This 460-page British crime novel was a much faster pace novel than the last.Like the last , The story stars Deputy Chief Inspector Tamara Greave, Detective Inspector Tom Janssen, and young Eric Collet a Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Officer and Detective Sergeant. (DS) Cassie Knight in England to investigate and solve mysterious murders..This tale begins on the beach with Detective Inspector Tom Janssen on the beach with his girlfriend Alice and her daughter, Saffy enjoying a holiday celebration when distracted by a person on fire on a nearby cliff.During the investigation to other murders take place and the team realizes that the victims knew each other and served together in Middle East wars. Putting evidence together, investigators realize that the other members of that unit were in danger and look to one of them as being the perpetrator.Like the other books in this series the author keeps the reader guessing until the very end thinking about who did it and why. This was a very interesting and fast paced crime novel that was well-written. It kept me on tract enough to order the 6th n this 7 book series. While each of the books in this series is set in the UK and the protagonist are the same characters, I recommend that you read them in order to get the benefit of the character’s background and development.I recommend this murder mystery to family, friends, and others who enjoy a series of well-written crime novels.Enjoy!

Best Norfolk yet
Excellently crafted , characters developing as we learn more about them . I enjoy this series , read in order , as good thrillers but especially for the spirit of place .I grew up in Norwich so new the coast well . I’ve lived in Cape Town for over 50 years but have been fortunate to visit Norfolk especially Wells , Sheringham and of course Walsingham frequently .Jason , thank you for bringing me wonderful experiences with your stories .David Taylor

As long as Jason Dalgliesh writes them, I reading them.
Characters are developing well. In the first series, I felt like I knew them personally. The folks in this series are a different bunch but thrir personalities and histories are becoming more interesting and important. The plots and crimes...I gave up trying to guess at that a couple of years ago. One really should read each series chronologically. Not commenting on the plots. Just enjoy.BillWinter Park, Fl

Not for me
What happened to the author? The man who writes excellent mysteries without using violence porn or bad language! I could not finish this book, in fact I had almost forced myself to get about 70% through, but that was enough. This is an awful story with graphic violent scenes, I don't need that in my mind. There were also over -long waffle type conversations which were neither very informative nor interesting, they felt like filler material. I have always been a fan of J. M. Dalgliesh, so this book is a great disappointment.

Excellent, enjoyable read.
I’ve read all of The Hidden Norfolk series. The characters are developing nicely with each book, and, so far, not one rotten apple in the cast of recurring characters. This was a great story. The opening, which described the Viking Festival, was excellent; the description made you feel like you were there. As the story progressed, I changed my choice of suspect , and was still wrong. I gave it 5 stars because this well written novel deserved it. Kaye in Texas

Feels Ripe for Brit TV Series
I feel like this entire series of novels would be more entertaining as a series on the Telly (as the British say). It’s not complex nor artistic—that’s not a slam—just an observation as a reader of police dramas and mysteries. This one is not a page turner, but written well enough to hold a reader’s interest. LNM

The series is definitely readable, but very formulaic
I’m tearing through the series, and enjoying the books, but they’re very formulaic and follow the same exact pattern - introducing seemingly innocuous characters, spending the bulk of the book looking elsewhere (at related but different crimes), then circling back for the ultimate “whodunit.” Still enjoyable, but I wish the author switched it up a little.

Not an eyebrow flicker
I have really enjoyed this whole series and this one didn’t disappoint. However, and it may seem churlish, but they are spoilt for me by the constant use of the expression ‘flick of the eyebrows’. What on earth does it mean? Why does every character seem to do it at one point or another? Is it some strange Norfolk ritual? Do you have to be a member of an eyebrow flicking brotherhood to be able to do it? Every time it is said I find myself doing strange things with my face trying to achieve the necessary movement but I have finally had to concede - I am not an eyebrow flicker.

Great series... Looking forward to the next one..... But
Have read all five now almost one after the other and find them fascinating and a read I cant put down. Preordered this one and read it in 2 days. Nice to have them based in a different area to London or other big cities. The Characters are good.... here is the but... very minor but became very irritating over the series and especially in this book... every few pages there is a description of a conversation or interrogation.... and one or other of the participants "bobbed" or was "bobbing" his head in reply... the same description appeared so often that I found myself waiting for it and even cringing when it arrived.... its like one of those words someone says as a matter of habit to everything. Hope the author reads this and can find some alternative description for the next book.....

Absolutely Brilliant
I could not put this latest DI Tanner book down. In fact with only breaks for food, drink and comfort I read this in one day. Excellent writing. Totally absorbing. It also brought to the for the effects of taking part in modern warfare leaving the Armed forces afterwards has on ex-soldiers. It’s not all PTSD but also the challenges of reintegration into civilian life. Full of strong characters with an ending you won’t see coming this is a brilliant read. .

Brilliant
This 5th novel in this series is brilliant, the characters were so well brought to life highlighting this modern day problem of ex-service personal, the main characters were as always were made to feel like old friends. The storyline was page turning from start to finish, I could not put it down. Jason is a Master of his Art and deserves much praise. Excellent reading, can't wait for the next in the series.

Battling the Brotherhood
Tom and the team are up against a band of brothers in this investigation. Gruesome murders shock the quiet seaside town and the team have their work cut out unravelling the evidence before the murderer strikes again. Tamara only puts in a brief appearance and I missed that dynamic. Found the war spoils twist a step too far........would that be possible on that scale? None the less enjoyed the read and can't wait for book six. Recommend.
