If you’re into crocheting animals this is a good starter book

Found this to be really hard to understand as a beginner.

Have not tried it out, but I am a beginner and this seems easy to follow

I have only made the horse and the cow so far and I am pleased with how they turned out. I am fairly new to crochet work so my review comes from the perspective of a 'newby'! I didn't want the animals quite so big so I used a 4-ply yarn. This scaled the animals down very well, but it was obviously a bit more fiddly in parts because everything was so much smaller. I did find that it was better to make all the parts first and then assemble the animal when everything was crocheted, rather than putting the parts in place when advised to in the pattern. Also, I would have found it helpful to have an illustration of how to fit the rear, upper body and head together. The instructions seemed quite clear, but I struggled to make my horse and cow look as they should. Perhaps a more experienced crocheter would not have had a problem with this, and fitting those parts together might have been more obvious if I had made the animals larger, as per the pattern. All-in-all, this is a good pattern book and the crochet instructions are really easy to follow so I am happy to give it five stars. Speaking personally, I needed more help piecing the horse and cow parts together, but there are a few excellent photos included in the pattern which help in this respect.

Brought this originally for the horse pattern which turned out better than i though have been asked make the chicken & cow too.

The hen and sheep are brilliant patterns.The one that lets this book down is the pig...it's just not as good and is completely out of proportion! I've tried to crochet this pattern twice to no avail..yet managed the sheep and hen first time. Who knows!

A very good book, good photos of all the animals which help a great deal when putting the pieces together. So far I have made the pig, my only criticism would be, for example, where it says “do not join” it might be helpful to add “but continue round . . or maybe it’s just me?

Small booklet with just five patterns in as shown on the cover. The crochet terms are American so I had to convert them to UK as I went - no biggie. Only done one of the patterns so far but it was clear and easy to follow. Small size meant it fits easily in my bag with the wool so I could crochet while out and about.
