Work Sharp MK2 Electric Knife and Tool Sharpener - Adjustable Tool & Knife Sharpening System, Fast, Easy to Use

I bought the very first version of the electric sharpener when they were new to the market and used it for over a decade. I had to replace the bands obviously due to use and had to replace the guards once time due to wear from the thousands of times a knife blade was pulled through them. That being said, over 10 years later, I still have that device and it runs like the day I got it. This week I upgraded to the MK2 design finally and what a change that was. I had no clue just how much easier it would be to use and how much better it would sharpen my knives in the kitchen. With the MK2 I don't need to have any skill really, no special knowledge of knife sharpening, nothing more than being able to pull a knife across a belt at a similar speed. I was able to sharpen knives that have been beaten to death in just a few minutes to literally shave my arm. I was shocked. I think one of the biggest factors is the accuracy of the blade guide vs the old model. The Mk2 does a great job at putting the blade exactly where it needs to be to get that perfect burr and then again to get that laser sharp edge we usually only see on high dollar knives or knives the first time we use them. Even my old cleaver is razer sharp now after just a few minutes. I think it took maybe 10 pulls on the grinder belt, then 10 more on the fine finishing belt and I was done. I had to warn the family to be careful with the knives as they are sharp again. Being so easy to set up means it only takes me a moment to get the device on the table and ready for action. This means I will use it more often to maintain my sharp knives. If its a pain to set up and becomes a task I am not going to resharpen as often. This tool removes all that worry. I find myself even taking it our just to put a fresh edge on my finer knives before I cut a nice meat or carve a bird. Sure there are way to get even sharper knives but that is for people who enjoy the art of knife sharpening. A lot of folks really do enjoy the satisfaction of a wet stone and metal and years of skill producing an amazing edge. If you are that person, this isn't your tool. But if you are like most folks and want to be able to make chef sharp kitchen knives with no skill, no learning time, no practice, and minimal effort, this is your tool for sure. I really love this MK2 and can't wait to use it for years to come.

Excellent knife sharpener. This takes a little practice to use when starting. I gathered up all the old knives I could screw up without worrying about it, left the nice stuff in the drawer until I perfected my technique. You can easily sharpen several knives on one grit type, then change out the band and take each knife through the finer grit bands until you're done. The only thing I noticed was that I rounded off the tips of a few of the knives I practiced with. The on-line videos show how to avoid that as well as other really useful things like sharpening scissors. This is a great tool, just practice a bit before grabbing those expensive Japanese steel things in the special knife drawer.

I’ve had this knife sharpener for a few weeks now, and I’m seriously impressed. It brought my old kitchen knives back to life in just a few swipes. The handle feels sturdy, and the non-slip base keeps it steady while sharpening — super safe and easy to use. I especially love that it has multiple stages, so I can do a rough or fine edge depending on the knife. Way better than using a honing rod or sending knives out for sharpening. If you cook regularly and want your knives razor-sharp without spending a lot, this is a must-have.

This sharpener is fast and easy to use. I used it on my machete in order to sharpen it for some plants. I was able to create a new edge with new edge geometry in a short amount of time, but I had to buy extra straps in order to get it very sharp. It doesn’t come with enough belts to make a decent progression down to a good edge. You have to buy the extra set of belt otherwise you’re just going to wear out your first roughest belt.

This is perfect for a home cook who doesn't want to take the time to learn whetsones. It's set up ready to go for 20 degree knives right out of the box. In 5 minutes I had it unpacked and sharpened two of my chef knives to better than new. For those who don't have a honing rod it also comes with a 6000 grit belt that will give similar results. 10/10 purchase.

Ok I been watching you tube videos on this sharpener for months and I finally bought it. I practiced on one kitchen knife, and then I went right to my old okc blackbird sk5. Holy cow this thing put an edge on it like it was brand new. This was so much fun to work with I can see myself sitting in my basement work shop doing this to every knife I own this weekend. I am very pleased with this sharpener as I have never been good with a traditional stone. For 100 bucks, it has been worth it for me.

I admit I had given up on trying to sharpen my wife’s knife set. I had bought her a nice set of Henckel knives and tried to keep them sharp with what I thought was a pretty decent ceramic sharpener. I felt like it was becoming a loosing battle and even thought about replacing the knives and just buying a new set when a friend told me about the Work Sharp. After purchasing I sat down to what I was sure would be a long tedious process of restoring the knives to sharpness. Couldn’t believe it ,all finished with entire set in 30 minutes, with arguably a better than factory edge. This product exceeded expectations!
