These are a sturdy (emphasis on sturdy) flute for sparkling wines. They are thick and heavy. It does not bother my husband; it definitely bothers me. We refer to them as the "jelly glass flutes." The mouth is wider than many, considering it's height. This, of course, affects the amount of effervescence you get from your wine. Having said that, for a casual use, they are perfectly acceptable, but I cannot recommend them for a celebratory occasion.
