can you fold the front behind the device?

Yes, no problem. I do not do this often, because I am writing on it and not using it as a reader. But it is quite easy to get it into a vertical posiiton and it is very stable too

Can the cover fold back so you can write on a flat surface?

Yes, it can fold flat, that is how I use it normally

Would this fit the supernote a5x?

Bought it for my Remarkable 2 so I don't own a SupernoteA5X - compare the measurements maybe?
