When I tried this, there were only a few holes punched into the foil and it seems like not enough water could get to the coffee?

Hello, I thought that maybe you have too much coffee in it, the coffee is not filtering through the product. Here is the suggestions: Amount: Leave 1-2MM from the top, too full would cause water leaking. GRINDS IS EVERYTHING! We recommend using medium or fine grinds generally. Please open a new original Nespresso pod, studying the grind in the pod. Or you can try some LAVAZZA , Illy or some other brands grinds to see the difference. We have tried the Lavazza and illy ground coffee, we found that the cream it produced is very similar to the original pod. Do not over grind the beans too fine which may come out a diluted Espresso. Do not super press the coffee grinds like those who work in coffee shops with a commercial half-Manual Coffee Machine, just slightly press. Thank you RECAPS

Can these be used to reuse an actual Nespresso brand capsule?

Absolutely. That is what I use them for most. The aluminum capsules have a Small filter in the base that sort of seals the old holes that are punched. I flatten the aluminum to normal dimensions and fill. It works great.

Can you reuse the lids more than once?

no, the lid is disposable but the pod can be used many times.
