Double Awesome Chinese Food: Irresistible and Totally Achievable Recipes from Our Chinese-American Kitchen

Couldn’t be more excited for this. I live in the UK but have eaten in Mei Mei’s restaurant in Boston while travelling on work and always try to find their food truck when I’m in town too. I can’t wait to try every single recipe in this entire book!

Easy to follow and food reliably tastes fantastic. Appreciated their suggestions for alterations to make recipes gluten or dairy free. Fun stories behind the recipes as well. Highly recommend.

Great recipes and easy to use a must add

I feel bad writing a negative review because the authors include pictures of their family, including adorable kids, which makes you feel the personal side of what went into writing this cookbook. So, I hope they don't take this personally, if they read it. I bought the book because the title says "Chinese Food", but that title is egregiously misleading. The vast majority of the recipes are for pan-Asian/Western style fusion food. Many include dairy and other ingredients that stray too far from Chinese cuisine (American, Russian, Japanese, and Western European flavors instead), and which will not be digestible to many of those with East Asian palates. (Full disclosure: I am half Chinese and half Western European, so I am not opposed to fusions--but I do expect my "Chinese" food to stick to Chinese ingredients, if it is not labeled "fusion". All that dairy would make me sick!). I will be returning this book to Amazon for a refund, as I just can't bring myself to adulterate the cuisine of my ancestors in such ways. However, if you want a fusion cookbook, this may be for you. For me, it's just a huge disappointment.
