Amazon Basics Retractable Permanent Markers, Quick Drying Fade Resistant Ink, Versatile Art Supplies for Drawing, Black, 12 Count

This product seemed okay at first, but after about 4 uses/clicks, the pen flap that keeps it from drying out does not retract. The "click" gets stuck and either does not eject the tip or it wont go back in and thus dries out. I very quickly was not able to use these as long as I was hoping due to the malfunctions. I also found them drying out faster, not sure if it was because it not fully closing or the are not sealing well. I LOVE Amazon, but these markers were awful! Please keep in mind, this was about a year ago (2023), so maybe they improved them.

These write just like Sharpies, honestly better in some ways since the retractable tip means no lost caps rolling around the junk drawer. Haven't had a single one dry out yet, which is usually where cheaper markers fall apart for me. The tips stay solid and don't fray or mush down after repeated use, and the ink comes out smooth and dark every time you click one open. Great for labeling boxes, marking up cardboard, writing on gift tags, whatever random thing pops up around the house. For a 12 pack these are a great value. Would definitely buy again.

These have all lasted a pretty long time & the ink is black enough. My only complaint is that the little retractor/cover thingy inside the marker, broke on 3 or 4 of these waaaay before the ink would have dried up.

These black permanent markers are fantastic. The ink is bold and vibrant, goes on smoothly, and works on pretty much anything—paper, plastic, metal, you name it. It dries super fast so there’s no smudging, and it’s fade- and water-resistant, which is a huge plus. I especially like the retractable tip; it keeps the marker fresh and means no accidental messes. Really solid markers that do exactly what they promise.

The retractable design is genuinely handy — no caps to lose. But a few markers started falling apart within weeks, with the tips loosening up, and they dry out way faster than name-brand permanents. Fine as cheap backups, but if you use markers regularly, spend a little more for something that lasts.

Awful. The clip is integrated with the click button and it constantly gets stuck open. There's also a small flap that opens and closes respectively if the marker is in use or not, but it malfunctions shortly after the initial use, causing the marker to dry out. Very cheap. Stick with Sharpies with the cap.

I've always loved Sharpies, namely, the ultra-fine and fine point types. These Amazon pens , do the same thing for less the money. On some surfaces, the stuff you write/mark needs to be allowed to dry for a fairly short amount of time or else you can smear it and then not be able to undo the smeared/messed up part, but on some surfaces it's set right away. Either way, once it's set, it stays that way. I have stuff I wrote I've written on with aAmazon many years, even decades ago, that's still good as new or maybe only with a little wear. Of course, I'm not talking about just writing on paper, in which case you'd obviously expect that. But I'm talking about surfaces such as rubber or certain types of plastic that you can't or can't easily or clearly write on with "normal" pens at all: those were easy to use a Sharpie on and what I wrote or drew on those surfaces stays there for as long as I'd ever need (probably until after I die, after decades of being very useful and reliable!).

These Amazon Basics retractable permanent markers have been really convenient to have around. I like the retractable design because there’s no separate cap to keep track of, which makes them quick and easy to use whenever I need one. The black ink goes on smoothly, dries quickly, and gives a nice bold line that’s easy to see. I’ve used them for labeling, organizing, writing on different surfaces, and a few creative projects, and they’ve worked well for all of these tasks. The fade-resistant ink is another nice feature, especially when I need markings to stay visible. Having a 12-count pack means I can keep them in different rooms and always have one handy. Honestly, these are just the best. A clinking permanent marker makes working in a restaurant feel more efficient and it’s cheaper than sharpies. Highly recommend for hospitality workers.

I love these markers. Because they have the click mechanism, I never have to worry about where I left the cap. It makes things so much easier when you have a small job for them.
