This stuff is amazing!!! Seriously. It’s a long and painful story, but one of our dogs gave a skunk carcass a thorough sniffing and came home and we didn’t find out until about 12 hours later that the smell was coming from the dog (the front of his snout was saturated with skunk oil and so when we sniffed his body we didn’t get overpowering and obvious evidence of a dog who had been sprayed by a skunk). We thought the smell was coming from a skunk spray outside the house somewhere. When we finally realized that the smell was coming from one small concentrated area on the dog, the blessed pup had already visited every area in our home. The skunk smell hit like a wall every time we entered the house. I sprinkled this stuff in all the bedding as it was waiting to be washed and it only needed one wash to get the smell out, when I had tried with just the laundry detergent it was still there after two washes. Next I spread the granules over the mattress pads and carpet and let it sit for about an hour before vacuuming it up. I made the liquid and put it in a spray bottle and liberally applied it to the couches, bean bags, etc. I love that you don’t have to rinse it or anything!! I also mopped the floors with the liquid, let it sit for a bit, and then mopped it again with water. The wall of skunk smell disappeared faster than I ever thought possible! Within a few hours there was only a faint candy kind of smell leftover from the product. It’s not my absolute favorite scent ever, but it is 10000000% better than skunk!!!! Within a day or two the house was back to its normal smell. I already had a skunk shampoo for the dog so I didn’t use this on him, and I only used this product AFTER the dog was as clean as possible and wouldn’t spread any more odors. Next time (and sadly, there will probably be a next time) I will spray this on the dog before showering him with the skunk shampoo so it can have a good head start on breaking down the oils causing the scent. By some rare stroke of brilliance I had already ordered this stuff (based on the reviews) because I had noticed a lot of dead skunks on the roads by our new house. I am sooooo glad I had this on hand already, now that I went through four bottles I ordered four more to have ready to go when our inquisitive dog makes friends with the local wildlife.

At the end of summer mice moved into my attached garage. I set traps, got a new high frequency plug in, and used "natural" products, but nothing worked. Worse, it smelled horrible. I swear those mice had intestinal problems. I have lived in my house 25 years and I have NEVER had an infestation before. I always used one of those high frequency plugs in, and had only a few mice show up to be trapped. Finally I gave in and used poison. Now the horrific order became even worse. Truly gag provoking. I knew I had to get out there to clean, but I simply couldn't handle the smell. Remembered janitors used a product to take away the odor of vomit at schools, and got on Amazon. Whatever that is, it is sold in bulk and is well over $100. Read reviews for every product. Compared and debated, but felt the reviews for Van Den Heuvel's R86 were consistently good, and it was a very reasonable price for 2 containers. When it arrived I realized I had accidentally bought 2 pkgs instead of 1 pkg of two! Got a good odor controlling face mask and made myself go into the Hell Hole my poor garage had become. Thank God for this product! I began by sprinkling the R86 every where. Used 1, and then a half of the other bottle and then beat a retreat, wondering if there was any hope! A day later I went back and, while it wasn't gone, the worst of the smell was gone. Some of these reviews said, in regard to ALL of these type of products, that the smell of the product was so "sickly sweet" that it was worse than the original smell. Yes, R86 does have a "sweet" smell, and I can see how some people would react to it without enthusiasm, but if this product smells worse than what you are trying to clean up, you probably don't have a very big problem! Admittedly, while I wasn't wearing a respirator, I did have a good face mask so that probably helped. Still, there was NO WAY I could have gotten in that space and cleaned without this product neutralizing the worst of it. It is a yellow powder and it is not so light that it flies around like dust. Because of that, when I started sweeping I think R86 also kept the dust down. I was so overwhelmed by this task, and too embarrassed to ask for help. I put off dealing with it for weeks because I couldn't even handle the smell when I opened the door. I grew up on a farm and I have shoveled you know what, and dealt with the odor of animal carcasses, as well as the icky odor of a dead mouse somewhere in the outbuildings. It was always disgusting and gross, but NOTHING like the smell that permeated my garage. If you have someplace that stinks in the worst way, do not hesitate to get this product. Remember how I accidentally ended up with 2 boxes of 2 cans each? I am not going to be sending that second box back!! I hope I don't have to use it again soon, but I do not want to be without R86 available to me the minute I sense that an awful smell may be developing. I put a lot of stock in the reviews that Amazon customers write, so I am very grateful to the reviewers who guided me to this product. If you too have a Hell Hole, GET THIS!

So the room this was intended for was, seemingly, the cat's litterbox. Like the whole room. It was intense and horrible! Although it said to use 2 oz for the 10x10 room, I used the whole bottle. It definitely sucked out a good portion of the smell. I let it sit overnight. Of course, the next morning, I smelled the R86 instead. Not a bad smell. Kinda like lemons and chemicals. After I vacuumed it definitely was better. Cat stink was still around though as the gal I was working with is sensitive to those smells, it was still affecting her. So I did another overnight sit using another whole bottle. This time, I forgot to vacuum it up the next morning, so the next day after I could smell cat again. (I do not recommend letting it sit more than overnight for this reason) I tried the process again where it only sat overnight once and vacuumed next morning. Much better results this time. Since there was going to be several people in the house shopping, I had to make sure the smell was gone. So when I vacuumed the overnight sit again, I used a whole box of carpet fresh litter box. While that sat, I went thru and febreezed the fabric furniture and curtains and used some lysol disinfectant in the air. Then I went back and vacuumed the pet fresh litter box. HUGE difference! For seriously smelly cat odors, I don't think the R86 on it's own worked, but with the combo of febreeze fabric, carpet fresh litter box, and lysol disinfectant it worked! I truly feel if the odor wasn't so incredibly bad, the R86 on it's own would have been perfectly fine. This was just horrid. All in all, I will definitely be using R86 again!!!!

Has a perky scent, not perfume or flowers, and not overpowering. Product 100% performs as they claim!

For a couple of weeks now I have been dealing with Pepe Le Pew who decided to move under my neighbour's shed and mark my house. I have used bowls of vinegar and lit many candles to deal with the smell. This product is a welcome change to the skunk, vinegar and scented candles I have been using. I can be sensitive to smells and this one is ok for me but do not use too much. To help with the stink I have put small bowls with some of this product in it where Pepe's stink is the worst. Some reviewers have written that this is toxic. HOPEFULLY NOT! I am hoping that the manufacturer's are honest and that this product is not toxic. Definitely do not need a toxic product that irritates the lungs and nasal passages while we are dealing with Covid!

What is this sorcery? I have a 100+ year old home with a small vestibule add-on that some critter must have gotten under into an inaccessible (by me) area and died. The smell was AWFUL. I knew I’d have to *wait* for it to decompose so I tried this out of desperation and fully skeptical. Sprinkled this product dry around the edges of the room and planned to make the wet version … didn’t have to … nearly instantaneously it improved the odour and a couple days later there’s no death-smell. It is quite a powerful scented product … so be prepared for that … but I didn’t mind it and it was so much better than death.

Mon solage a été arrosé par une moufette en plein hiver. Une forte odeur se dégageait du sous-sol. J'ai placé des bols de vinaigre à différents endroits, l'odeur était atténuée, mais toujours présente. Le R86 a un parfum très puissant, qui ne plaira pas à tous, j'ai versé la poudre dans un bol près de la source et l'odeur de moufette est disparue. Reste à voir si cela sera permanent, à voir cet été quand il fera très chaud. Satisfait à date!

This is amazing and so good for so many things. I have used it for putting in drains in the basment, I leave it in jars and leave the lid off a d every 2/3 days I give it a shake to stir up the powder again. I leave 2 in the basment, one in the bathroom, a d I use it with hot water to rinse floors after mopping. It is a light scent of Vanilla helps with smoke smell, pet smell, and just dampness I Love it Will definitely buy again

This stuff is amazing. I bought a foreclosure house and the garage stunk so bad. No clue why. Sprinkled this everywhere and the smell was gone! This is now several months later and garage smells lovely still. Also used it when my cat peed on the couch and took that smell away as well. Recommend!!
