Fit's like a glove, nice air flow over my head.
I have recently become serious again about bike riding. I had a Giro years ago that saved me after coming off my road bike at 30mph and landing on my shoulder and head on the road. i have a great deal of respect for a quality helmet, It has been almost 20 years since that fall and I miss riding and feeling like a kid - and staying in shape too , so I decided to get back onto a mountain bike and get back at it. Product change over the years, bikes, gear ect. some for the good and some not so good. I read many reviews and asked different folks about helmets. I decided on the Giro again, brand recognition is one reason, saving my head from a serious concussion is another. I received the helmet a day early, out of the box it fit perfect, and the neg reviews about the straps not adjusting properly is unfounded. Chin strap is adjustable, straps fall naturally around my ears and the adjustment knob on the back is good for more warm head gear during the winter rides. As a foot note - I am 68, I was in my first bike race in 1971. The only helmet available at that time was a Styrofoam plastic thing that was supposed to cushion the fall, things have come a long way in 50 years - Thank God I always keep a helmet on my head when riding and this one is easy to wear, I didn't really notice it after a few miles. Good design, very light and very cool (I bought the white)

A great fitting XL helmet for big heads!
Two things, first off: this is described as a dirt riding helmet. I'm mainly an urban/road rider and am more concerned about proper fit and adequate air flow. I don't care that it's described as a dirt riding helmet. Secondly, some buyers have sent this helmet back because of, or are unhappy with, the color, stating it looks white. As the pics show, it is a light shade of gray, with a matte finish, not gloss. Helmet appearance is a very personal judgement call. If you're looking for a helmet to match your bike color or how it goes with your riding gear, you may want to look further. I'm perfectly happy with the fact that it doesn't draw attention to itself. Finally, I wanted a helmet with a visor, detachable or not, as I have a custom rearview mirror that mounts to the visor. This is a detachable visor but provides a stable mirror mounting location up to 35mph (maximum speed thus far with new helmet.)I have a large head, 23.5" or 59.7 cm. I wanted a helmet that provided additional room for either a skull cap or balaclava for cold weather riding. This helmet is stated as sizing 58-65 cm. With my head measuring slightly under 60 cm, the helmet fits perfectly on my bare head or with a cold weather protection layer added. Whereas my old helmet rode on top of my head, this helmet fits over my head. My wife commented the first time she saw it on me, that this helmet didn't appear to be "perched" on my head like my old one did. This helmet also provides MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) engineering. This specification became a priority for me after becoming aware of its existence. The whole idea of wearing a helmet is to provide maximum protection in case the worst scenario arises. The MIPS combined with the excellent fit of the helmet makes me feel that I'd have a good chance of surviving a head impact if it happened.Another fit consideration mentioned by at least one buyer stated that the non-adjustable straps didn't clear their ear correctly, referring to the "V" strap configuration not clearing their ear. This, of course, can't be confirmed until actually putting the helmet on. It either fits properly or it doesn't. And to clarify, the chin strap IS adjustable, of course, just not the configuration around the ear. One final observation about the straps, they are of a thinner, narrower material than my previous helmet, also a Giro brand. I assume that they are as strong or stronger than the straps on my old helmet. Strength of lightweight materials has advanced tremendously since the construction of my old helmet.Summary: Make sure that your head measurement is greater than 58 cm and less than 65 cm (that's BIG!). The depth of the inside of the helmet is generous, fitting my large head well. Inside size adjustment is by rotating wheel with click stop. Chin strap adjustment leaves 4" additional length available in my case.Helmet color and style is purely subjective, as is strap fit around ear.Build quality and materials is excellent, as is to be expected with Giro. All in all, a great fitting, comfortable helmet for large heads.

Quality product
I’ve been a fan of Giro for about 30 years. Having used Giro as a kid and now my kids, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I like that this protects a good part of the back of the head.Aesthetically, the matt finish makes it look good and not flashy at all.Adjustability is easy and very comfortable. Here we are weeks later after daily use, and we’ve had no issues with it.Highly recommended!
