All pockets are upright for top loading so nothing falls out as long as zipped. Main compartment has two zippers that meet in middle. Good design for travel. Two outside zip pockets for phone, keys, stuff you don't want to dig for. The bag is deeper and not quite as wide as you might want. The lining inside makes me want to cut it out so I have one big open compartment. I may do it. The inside zipped compartment isn't practicle. The backpack straps pull through to form the adjustable single shoulder strap or crossbody. Best feature by far. Strap does have a shiny nylon type fabric on one side. Not really a problem but I'd prefer no shine to draw less attention to it. A personal pref of mine is that bag would sit up on its own. I remedy this by cutting rigid piece out of a cardboard box the size of the base and pushing it inside to the bottom. It smelled like leather out of box but doesn't now, two weeks later. It has the rich look of all leather but it is a hybrid in my opinion. I don't know how workable for travel. I find myself pulling things out to access stuff at the bottom. As I mentioned, it's deep and needs more width and could stand to be less rigid and heavy. One last bit of picky-ness... One outside compartment is attached instead of built in. I'm on the fence as to how this feature looks. I plan to keep it. For the price and versatility it's a smart buy. Lots of us are looking for that backback purse that looks good over shoulder and doesn't look like your going backpacking when on your back. This one is really as good as it gets at this price.

I’ve been a prime customer for over 10 years and I do most of my shopping through Amazon because I’m disabled. I rarely write reviews but this bag absolutely warrants a review. This is my new favorite bag. As soon as I received it all of my other coaches and d&b bags that I keep in rotation went to the top of my closest for storage. I bought it in black so technically I can wear it with anything.I love the look, versatility, compartments and how this bag converts from a backpack to an over the shoulder to a crossover bag effortlessly. The stitching, zippers and other hardware are top notch and the glossy or waxed leather makes it look really pretty. The pockets inside allowed me to organize my stuff which is one of the best features. Most bags have 3 to 4 small inside pockets and this bag has 1 inside side big zipper pocket and on the other side is two inside side pockets and in the middle is a very large zippered portion which ends up letting u organize items for ur bag on either side. And the big outside zipper pocket plus a large zipper pocket on the back side of the bag makes organizing ur stuff very easy. Since I’m disabled sometimes I walk with a cane or walker and this bags versatility allows me to be able to switch it up depending on the day and also let me add I’ve seen a couple of ppl complain about the man made material on the opposite side of the straps. For me that’s a bonus because it will stop the wear and tear on the leather straps. I’m so happy to have found HeShe bags because I found a happy medium between $300-$500 bags I have or some of the cheaper ones that last a year if you are lucky for a $80 bag that seems will last for a very long time. I’m super happy with the bag and will be buying more HeShe bags.

Well made leather bag that will hold up. Good hardware and the ability to convert from backpack, to shoulder bag, to cross body is IDEAL!I don't understand the complaints about this bag nit being real leather. Mine is and its lovely. I appreciate the thoughtful classic design.Only con for me (like another reviewer) is the inside middle zipper bag. Would prefer just 1 open interior.

Love this bag! I have the black one in man-made leather. I agree with some of the other reviews that it is smallish if you plan to use it as a school or work bag — but it’s the perfect size if you use it as a purse. I especially like to take it with me when I travel. The convertible strap feature means it’s the only purse I need to bring: wear it as a backpack while exploring during the day, then wear it as a cross-body or over-the-shoulder when going out to dinner at night. The convertible feature has also saved me from having to check my bag in places that don’t allow backpacks (e.g., museums and concert venues). And no need to worry about getting caught in the rain with the man-made leather. Lastly, I’ve been surprised by how durable this bag is (I’ve had it a few years now and it looks like new).

I love that this one is better balanced in the handbag form that my last one, and is a little bigger but still compact. I fits everything I want in the spring/summer but I doubt it'll hold my scarves and gloves and such in the winter. My only gripes are that I wish it was a tad more structured, especially in the bottom. It's not flimsy, just less stiff than my preference. And I wish the zipper went all the way down like my last bag, it makes it easier to reach things that may have buried themselves at the bottom of your bag. The material and zippers are good quality though, and converting it is fast and easy. I also kinda wish it had metal feet. Otherwise, it's quite perfect and serves my purposes perfectly.

I didn't realize it was as big as it was until I received it.

Used this as my stow-under-the-seat carry-on for the flight. This is a fashionable, durable leather bag with compartments for easy accessibility. And it held everything I needed it to- including documents, umbrella, cosmetics, and a book. I continued to use while on our walking tours. Straps can be used as crossbody or backpack, plus a short handle to carry or hang. Glad I made this purchase.

Arrived damaged.

I wasn't sure what to expect buying a leather backpack from Amazon, but I am so happy with this product! I needed a smaller-sized backpack to use as a daypack for an upcoming trip to Europe, and this will be perfect. I can fit everything I need (water bottle, snacks, a book, light sweater, sunscreen, etc.) easily, and I think the zipped section at the back of the bag is perfect or keeping my wallet or phone to hopefully avoid any pick pocketing. There's also a zipped section inside the bag. I'm also a big fan of the ability to easily convert it to a shoulder bag.So far I've only been using it as a work bag, and have been super happy with it. Highly recommend!

This is a great knapsack. It’s big enough to carry all the necessities and then some. I use it for work to transport my lunch, umbrella and work files. Two large pockets on front and back. The front pocket is good for easy access and the back pocket works well for more valuable items. Just got it and plan to use it on weekends as a purse. It’ll come in handy to store purchases while shopping. Good quality and well made.

It is a beautiful design. I would have givenit a 5 star had access into the bag had been more generous. The zipper would have needed to open further down the sides to allow better access. As it is, it is a bit of a struggle to find what you need in this bag.

I am very happy with this purchase. The backpack is looking great, excellent quality. I recommend!
