Q: I need to replace a kiddie 1276. Is this compatible with connection and mounting plate?

Hello. Yes, this alarm has the exact same plug and the exact same mounting bracket as the 1276.

Q: what's the difference between generation 1 and generation 2?

Hello. We here at Kidde are not sure what they are talking about with Generation 1 and Generation 2. We did upgrade our model about 10 years ago from the I12060 to the I12060A. A low battery hush feature was added where if you pushed the test button while it was chirping for low battery, it would stop chirping for low battery for 10 hours. Also there were minor changes in how the red LED indicators indicated alarm memory mode and HUSH mode to save on the battery. The boxes for the alarms and descriptions online will still say I12060 but you are nearly guaranteed to get the I12060A in the box. Q: What is the mfr date of this unit?

The only date I see on the label attached to the unit states: 2020 May 29. I ASSUME this is the manufactured date. Unit was made in China.

Q: How can you tell the manufacturer date, since they need replacement every 10yrs?

Hello. The date of manufacturing is on the back of the alarm itself. The alarms you purchased will be at least 2 to 4 months old as it takes that long for the alarms to get from the manufacturing plant to our warehouses and to the warehouses of our distributors. The alarms shouldn't be older than 1 or 2 years by the time you purchase it and the alarm arrives. If you purchase a new alarm from our distributors and it arrives and it is 3 or 4 years old, call us at 1-800-880-6788 with the alarm and the receipt in hand. We will want to get a copy of the receipt from you and we will see what we can do.
