This is a good overview of the country's history, so that one who wants to study in depth knows the key historical figures and events.

I never had read anything on the history of South Africa. This was a good survey from the colonization of the area through the end of Apartheid. Not too involved but a good read. I have a better understanding now.If you are looking for a historical overview for South Africa, this is it.

While the content of the book is great and easily digestible, the editing of this book is astoundingly atrocious. Many grammatical errors and spelling mistakes abound.

Accurate, non-biased, hits the high points.

The first half of the book dealswith the discovery and expansion of South Africa. The next quarter deals with how the country reacts to into growth in the world and the next quarter quickly covers apartheid. I was expecting this to be a different split. But it is a good book that will lead to others as it raises more questions
