Very happy
I’m very happy with my rug, I’ve bought a few rugs this brand before. They hold up well and if you can deal with the first year of all the fuzz that comes off, they last a very long time. The fuzz part is typical of wool rugs and will eventually stop, I expected it so was not bothered by it.

Disappointing.
First of all, the packaging was FILTHY! Not only did it smell musty & mildewy-- it had DIRT all over it & stuck to the packing tape! The rug also stinks like mildew! It came with a card that recommends you let it air out, because the fibers have been squished together during shipping. News flash-- squished wool should still smell like wool-- not mildew & dirt! It doesn't even smell, or feel, like real wool. It's stiff & almost clumpy feeling, like my synthetic rugs. I've had wool rugs, and they are much softer & the fibers glide back & forth smoothly. I'm seriously doubting if this is wool-- as in the fiber that comes from sheep or goats. (I once had a totally different seller use the word "wool" in place of the word "yarn," when describing something synthetic.) As for the pattern, it looks considerably less detailed than the photos! And, no, the different size shouldn't matter-- there's a lot of empty space left over! The designs are sloppy. I wasn't expecting a lot, at this sale price. But, the "original" price lead me to believe it would be much better than it is.

Exchahnge synthetic for wool
This was my first experience doing an Amazon.com exchange and it worked fine. I had originally ordered a syntehtic carpet, also by Safavieh, but after a few days of living with it, realized I really wasn't satisfied. (The graphic elements of the pattern did not have enough definitation.) In spite of my reluctance to lug a 6x9' carpet to the UPS store, I picked out this wool rug (burgundy & navy) as an alternative, and began the exchange process. The window of time Amazon.com provided to send back the first carpet was quite generous. And amazingly, I ended up paying the UPS Store only about $6.00 to wrap the thing for shipping. Then, a couple of days after UPS confirmed that the returned carpet had been delivered, Amazon.com notified me that ithad been received, thus ensuring that I would not owe for the first carpet. As for the one I got, whcih I'm reviewing here, it is lovely. I saw that some reviewers criticized the slightly musty smell. I noticed this too but it disappeared after a day or two. For looks, I would recommend wool over synthetic, though admittedly it costs a bit more. I love the carpet.

sheds and sheds some more..plus it comes with sand
This carpet is ok. We bought a cheaper carpet because we have a newborn and this was for the dining room. We didn't want to have an expensive carpet in an area where food would be constantly dropped on it. The carpet feels thick and has not curled. We have a carpet pad under it to keep it from sliding and there is a table on top. It has 2 main quality issues. First, it sheds like crazy. We have a bagless vacuum and it fills the debris holder with bits of the carpet every single time we've vacuumed. Even though we make sure to vacuum with the unit on high, on the edges, where the vacuum rolls off the carpet, the carpet started falling apart. We noticed this early on and have learned not to allow the vacuum to go over the side so that the spinning brush does not rip at the carpet but we have a few patches balding. Second, the carpet was full of sand when it arrived. We've vacuumed it over 10 times already and each time we pull a lot of sand out. We vacuum underneath and then lay the carpet back down but if you were to lift it up again, more sand would be visible on the hardwood floor underneath. We should take this carpet out and beat it but we don't have a place to do that. We thought that vacuuming it thoroughly over and over would help but so far we've not managed to get all the extremely find bits of sand out. It's like a sand dust not grains of sand you might see on the beach. As for the color, the red is a maroon and the blue is a dark navy blue. We thought that the red would be more of a red that matches other reds sold by this same manufacturer but this carpet is maroon vs. a true red. If you have it in an area that does not get much use, it's fine. If you walk on it a lot, you'll make fuzzballs that need vacuumed and vacuuming it makes it fall apart.Update: Almost a year later and we are still getting lots of sand accumulating underneath. It has a few spots that are bare after vacuuming so much...but what can you do when you got sand to clean up? It held up to washing with a wet-vac ok but it took a very long time to dry. Even with removing it and thoroughly washing, there is still plenty of sand in it. Have we run into an artifact that makes sand?

Beaultiful rug but be prepared to clean and clean and clean....
Rug is beautiful and soft underfoot, no issues there...Main issue I have is the amount of lint / dust / fibers that continually come from the rug when vacuuming... I've probably filled 2 trash bags with lint and fibers from this carpet... I seriously have no clue where they are coming from. I don't see any degradation in the carpet but it's crazy. To this point, it's not roomba friendly as the bin will fill up in 1 pass over this rug, you can't expect roomba to finish the room without being full just from the rug, then it leaves trails of carpet fiber from this rug everywhere :)I don't regret the buy, it's just inconvenient.

Not the measurements given in the ad. I ordered 8X10 bit it was 7.5X10
I was happy with the first rug I bought it was exactly to measurements, but when I ordered this one in 8X10 it was about 6 inches short of 8 feet. Now I have to cut down the pad to fit. At 78 I’m not able to get this back in the packaging to return, it was hard enough for me to lay it down. Other than that, I’m very happy with the quality or I wouldn’t have ordered the second one. All wool rugs have a lot of fuzz and stuff in the beginning so be prepared for that. I would post a photo but I don’t know how.

Beautiful Rug
This rug is very pretty, thick and bright. My only complaint is that it is Not 8 foot round but a 7 foot 10" like the one I replaced. Was hoping for a tad larger area rug. That said, it is a very think and lovely rug for the money.
