No Grease!
I set these up as a teaser system on 15' outriggers on a 25' center console. Used immediately on a 7 day Fl Keys fishing trip in heavy weather. They performed exceptionally without any issues. Free spool is smooth and a lot of drag for heavy teasers. One month later and they barely spin. I disassembled them and found heavy galvanic corrosion between the brass shaft and aluminum plates. It does not appear there was ever any grease used in the assembly. I was able to get them apart, remove the corrosion, and grease the metal contact parts without impacting the drag plates. I would recommend greasing them on purchase to prevent future damage and service regularly.Easy to disassemble: 1. Gently pop off cap on the drag knob using a sharp edge like a wood chisel to prevent edge damage. 2. Remove knob safety screw (phillips) and 2 washers. 3. Unscrew drag knob (note position of 4 tension washers). At this point the 3 drag plates should easily come off, as well as the line reel. The shaft is brass, the line reel is composite. The inner and outer drag plates are aluminum and the drag cog is fiber. The outer drag plate is square notched to lock onto the shaft and will bind with corrosion there. The inner drag plate locks into the line reel and has a round center. It will bind on the shaft with corrosion there. I was able to remove the drag plates and line reel using a rubber mallet.Remove any corrosion using a brass wire brush, grease using an anti-corrosive lubricant. Reassemble in reverse order being sure to not get any grease on the drag plate surfaces.

Must mod if you expect and life out of this item
After less than a year both of them froze up. The plastic swelled over the shaft and sheared off. One I was able to disassemble. Clearance the spool and washers and grease the crap out of it. Other one Is trashed. I guess I'll have to buy an new one at $30 more and do mods!!!! You get what you pay for. Pair was less than 1/2 of what a quality teaser reel cost.

It will stain your boat.
The line's colorant stained the topsides of my boat and it didn't come off. I had to sand it off, buffer, and polish... Contacted manufacture and din't get an answer.
