Super powerful and light weight.

This drill is just the right size for most work around the house. The batteries last quite a long time, and an extra one is provided. This new model has a chuck, so you can drill with it too. It has amazing power.

Best drill in this category/class, bar none, at any price.

Best drill for around the house, home improvement, honestly, I can't think of anywhere this won't get the job done except maybe a drilling through a thick piece of hardwood with a 3/4" auger bit - it might though, I've never tried it.Charger charges the batteries from dead flat to 100% in about 30 minutes, and the batteries last forever. I got this for my GF's Dad last year and he loves it. It absolutely SMOKES in every single category his old full sized Ryobi 18V drill - battery lasts WAY longer, it weights half as much, fits in your hand better, AND has more power.Small size means it can fit places other larger drills can't, it fits my hand perfectly, and is extremely well balanced. Can't say enough about this drill/driver; the only thing I can think of where you might not want it is for full on contractor duty but it might be just fine for that too, as I'm not a contractor. This kit I'm reviewing comes with two batteries so you'll never be without power, no matter how much drilling/driving you're doing.I'd love to find a con, but I can't. It even looks cool. Don't even bother with Ryobi, its crap - drop the extra cash and have this one for the next 10 years (while you had to buy 4 batteries for your Ryobi, @ $30 each), you'll be glad you did.

Worth the price.

This is my "go to" light duty drill. Ergonometric, good battery life, good controls.

Love the design

Bosch hasn't changed the design in many years, and why should they? It's a perfect fit for my hand, and durable. A 1/2" drill is unnecessary for many tasks. When 3/8" is all you need, I think this is the ideal choice. Good looking, sturdy, and functional. I keep a heavy-duty 1/2" deWalt in reserve; mostly I use three Bosch drills, one with a 3/16" bit, one with a countersink, and one with a 3/32" bit for pilot holes. One of the Bosch drills is at least 5 years old, with no signs of wear yet.

Great drill for little home projects.

This replaced a $30 drill from ikea that broke before I even had a chance to charge the battery. This is an amazing set with two replaceable batteries and much more powerful drill for just a little bit more!I’ve had it for around 6 months now, and moved into a new apartment and used to attach new handles on kitchen cabinets, swap out multiple light switches and fixtures, put together some flat pack furniture, install shelves in my wardrobe, put up roller shades for my windows and other small projects around the apartment. It’s surprised me how often I’ve actually used it!The light is really useful for illuminating where you’re screwing, and I find it comfortable to hold.I’ve only used for very lightweight tasks (drilling/screwing into drywall, studs, and a couple times metal) but has met every task with ease. The carrying case has quite a lot of extra room. I use it to also store a small set of drill bits, a level, some pencils, and a manual screwdriver- and even with all that extra stuff it everything fits well.My only regret is buying the cheaper ikea drill in the first place and not buying this first off.

Compact light duty

I currently have an 18v Dewalt XRP and it is a fantastic drill - super powerful, great battery life and it's about 6 years old. Still works like the day I bought it. I'm a DIYer and have used it regularly. I've recently begun to make furniture and have discovered that I needed a backup or replacement drill that was considerably smaller. I'd like very much to pick up a Festool T12, but I can't afford it.Anyway, on a whim, I bought this Bosch PS31-2A because it was such a great deal. I have a Bosch jigsaw and it's great. I also know of a few people who have other Bosch drills and have not heard complaints. However, I agree with other reviews of this tool:1. The chuck woobles - at least a 1/16"2. The chuck itself is slick, it should be either more "rubbery" or not as tapered.3. Battery life is OKThe good points:1. Compact size2. Battery indicator level3. LED light4. Good soft carrying case5. Decent power for its size6. 30 minute charge7. Glad I didn't pay full priceI did a test of my own, I was a bit skeptical about its overall performance for my needs. I took a 2x4 of red oak and some 3" screws and wanted to see what it could handle. I drilled 5 screws without pre-drilling and about 25 with pilot holes through the 2" side before the battery died (I buried them in about 1/8"). The battery was warm and the motor was OK. I took the second battery and drilled about 5 holes at 1/16" thinking that the chuck wobble would cause me trouble by drilling a wider hole. If it did, I couldn't notice. Then I drilled out 25 more holes for screws and screwed them in, also about an 1/8" below the surface. After that I drilled out four 3/8" holes on the 4" side before the battery died. At this point, the battery was warm and the motor was warm too.For my usage, I think the test was rugged enough. Most of my projects will use plywood and 1" to 2" screws. The battery will likely last long enough for the time I have to work that day. If not, the second one will come in handy while I recharge the first. It's definitely going to be easier to take to someone's house to work on repairs or basic installations.Overall, this is a good drill.
