An Invaluable Resource from a Master Artist
Lighting is a fascinating and difficult topic, and one for which there are very few useful guides specifically designed for visual artists.Considering that this manual is almost entirely unique, it is indeed fortunate that it is both so well written, and so informative.Richard Yot--a master artist whose works include illustrations, animations, and computer graphics--is uniquely qualified to share his wisdom and experience with light and lighting. His explanations are rigorous and informative without ever becoming overly-technical or tedious. His focus is on practical knowledge; his frequent examples and exercises make this guide extremely useful for all visual artists and designers. Highly recommended!

✨Brilliant!✨
This book is as its synopsis describes it. As a drawer and painter, I needed a firm grip on the basics of light and shadow to really make my 2D artworks come to life. A round of applause to the author in making this unprecedented guidebook! 👏

Best possible review on the subject
Book is clearly written and uses technical language correctly (defining it as it's introduced, not overusing it to make the author sound smart), which is a lot more than I can say for other references. It doesn't waste time, either, which is how it can be as short as it is and still cover everything it needs to. I use it constantly. Very strong recommend.

One of my favorites...but the image quality on Kindle is terrible
One of my favorite reference books, Richard Yot is an expert in the subject. I've pointed people to previous versions of the book since the first edition. The content coverage is excellent, but most of the reference images in the kindle version look HORRIBLE. The images are so over compressed that they look like web images from 25 years ago. When trying to convey the subtle detail of lighting and its response in the real world, you need some level of quality. The Kindle Edition is lacking this. It's almost like nobody checked the digital version before sending in over. Almost every image has artifacts that destroy detail and make all the images look blurry. The publisher desperately needs to submit an updated version. Make the digital book size larger so I can see things. Sorry Richard, but the quality of the digital version is an embarrassment to your fine work (publisher or Amazon fault?).Again, buy the book, support Richard and his work, but if you actually care about the images, buy the print version not the Kindle version.

Learn from the best!
The content and quality of the physical book is fantastic. Yot's Light For Visual Artists should be a must have for any artist wanting to understand light to improve their creations. This should be required reading at every school and for every artist!

A fantastic Resource for All Artists
I think this will be a book that I come back to over and over again. It is the perfect carrying size and carries just about every information an artist would need regarding light and color. Highly recommend
