Do you need to predrill with these screws ?

No, you do not need to predrill with these screws while installing residential metal roofing.  These are the screws my trusted metal roofer used on my house metal roof.  He and the local metal roof manufacturer recommended these screws.  He even used these on metal roofs on the Gulf of Mexico that went through a direct hit by a Cat 5 hurricane a few years ago, and the metal roof went through the storm without any of these screws coming out.

Do you sell this (#14 1" with 5/16" head) in lots of 1000 (for any less)?    Also what is the link to the 5/16 magnetic drill socket you recommend?

Can I use these to replace screws on a metal to steel frame building?

Accepted Answer

Depending on what size screws were originally in the roof which is usually #9 or #10; you should go with a #12 not a #14.  The #12 screws have a 5/8" washer to cover the whole which probably enlarged over time.  If you go with #14 and happen to have to do this again there is nothing larger for the next time.

Question 4

Is there a hex 5/16 bit for these screws?  My  experience is that the bit is included wth screws...
