This book is great
I'm coming back to the piano after a gap of almost 40 years. I decided to give it a go during COVID. I am also learning violin for the first time, so I have my hands full during quarantine, which is great. I don't remember using Czerny when I was a child. My teacher used the John Thompson books. But, I went with Czerny after hearing an online teacher say she thought they were best. I like this one very much. Even though the pieces are short exercises, they are really complete songs and not just notes strung together. Some of them are actually very pretty little melodies, which makes them easier to learn. I am surprised how much I remember, but am having a little trouble with right/left hand coordination. It's no where near as hard as violin though, so when I turn to the piano it's actually a little break for me. I don't need nearly the concentration the violin takes. I'll probably never be truly good at either instrument -- I'm 67 now and unless I live to 90 I just won't have the years to become really proficient at either one. But, I'm enjoying the process and can see a little improvement in both, so that encourages me to go on. I plan to get the Czerny Op. 599 book when I've completed this one. I like using Czerny very much.

Czerny
My daughter is using Czerny along with her Suzuki books. I have seen a leap of improvement during a relatively short time. This book takes devotion, but the dividends are worth it.
