Nostalgic and seems well made!
Works well. We used it on very solid ice cream and some that was softer and it worked easily. The problem is non commercial sized ice cream containers, as you get lower into the carton, it's a bit tricky with this type of handle. It's nostalgic and seems to be well constructed. It is a heavier weight which I appreciate, and it has the cute little Thrifty's logo on it. The grip is nice especially for firmer icecreams. I have a harder time with a thumb lever and this has a full hand lever to release the icecream. The scoop size is about the same as a standard ice cream disher. It definitely all lends to great scoopablity! This would make a really fun gift to someone who, like me used to go to Thrifty's as a kid.

Excellent quality ice cream scooper w/trigger. Good value. highly recommend!
This old-fashioned ice cream scooper is an excellent quality scoop that features a convenient trigger mechanism. It is cleverly designed, well made from stainless steel, and has a polished finish. The weight is just right, and since the stainless steel is commercial grade, it is rust-resistant. I had never seen anything like this before, and I instantly fell in love with it. It works exactly as described—it's fantastic! The scooper is comfortable to hold, and the trigger releases smoothly. You can use it not only for ice cream, but also for any frozen treats you want to serve. Priced at USD $19.98 (at the time of this review) it is a good value. I highly recommend it! Thank you for reading my review! I hope you found it helpful. My reviews aim to provide potential buyers with a comprehensive understanding of the product. I strive to share as much information as possible, often including pictures and sometimes videos. My secondary goal is to help sellers enhance their products while highlighting their features. Most reviews are written within a few weeks of receiving the product. I will edit my review if necessary after some time has passed.

Love it!
Works perfectly. Very sturdy. I saw reviews saying it fell apart after a while. The only thing I can imagine is there is a spring with a screw in the release handle. In the future, if the screw becomes loose it can easily be tightened using a small wrench. The device is sturdy and well soldered. Very well made! Having fun making ice cream cones every night!

Simple & easy
Simple & easy to use, very light weight ! Perfect way to get those rounded scoops, as well to get more accurate serving sizes. Works best on soft & hard ice cream, especially comes in handy against the rough ice cream that’s been left in the freezer for to long, & when you’re needing to put ice cream on a flimsy cone. Easy to clean, store, & there has been no discoloration from hand nor dishwashing it

Cylindrical Pillars of Nostalgia
While Thrifty/Rite-Aid crassly keeps adjusting this item's price from $19.99 to $36.99, what excuses it is the fact we can now recreate at home an iconic, multigenerational product: ice cream dispensed from Thrifty's mythical, cylindrical ice cream scoop. This is a product that delivers true joy. Gun-shaped, stainless steel, and featuring a spring-powered trigger that "gently ejects" the ice cream, just looking at it is a trip back in time, and the cylinders of holiness it creates are spot-on reenactments of childhood. The difference? Its two-pronged "ejector" puts two tiny holes atop each scoop; easily remedied, and hardly worth whining about. If you share space with middle-aged or older folk that dreamily recall ice cream procured for spare change -- always with their cylinder forms hard-packed into the cone -- you've just found a gift of wondrous nostalgia. - (Was this of use? If so, let me know by clicking "Helpful." Cheers!)

Didn't totally meet my needs but like it anyway
Description of product was accurate and it is one of the sturdiest tools in the kitchen. Easy clean, just run under some water for a few seconds. It didn't quite meet my needs, but it came the closest. I had some store bought ginger cookies and I thought ice cream between two cookies would be a good treat. Trying to get a round slice of ice cream with a spoon or scoop taxed my abilities, so I was happy to find this product. It works fine when following the instructions to push the scoop cylinder into the ice cream all the way to the top. For my purposes, I just wanted a small wafer of ice cream. To get that I had to slowly push the ice cream out of the cylinder by squeezing the handle and then use a knife to cut the ice cream disks to the size of the cookies. It didn't totally solve my cookie ice cream sandwich problem, but I am happy with it anyway and it is so sturdy I can anticipate willing it to my favorite relative.

Works, But Frustrating to Use
This ice cream scoop does its job…kind of. The stainless steel feels sturdy, but the scoop creates a weird shape in the ice cream, and it only works if the ice cream is at exactly the right temperature—too hard or too soft, and it’s a struggle. It’s okay in a pinch, but not my favorite scoop for regular use.

Best part is the springy sound it makes
High quality stainless steel construction. Requires less effort to use than the typical spoon shaped ice cream scoop. The best part is that familiar springy sound it makes which makes you feel like you’re at the Thrifty ice cream counter.
