Great hammer drill for a decent price

This was a great buy for the money. I don't use it much but when I need it to drill into cinderblock walls, it works great and does the job

This has most everything you need

The media could not be loaded. I have not used this yet, but I'm very familiar with Skil products. I'm so excited to try it out, so I gave this 5 stars based on the name brand, and most everything I need wrapped up in this nice, hard cover, well made case. It is a bit heavy for me, because I'm used to battery drills. But, I'll handle it or buy another battery drill and use which ever one suits my need at the time. Ok, time out. I'm going to give this a whirl and take a video. Then update this review. Brb ok, you can see the video and hear my one problem, so no need to address it here. It has a great grip, the bits are actually labeled so you pock the right one for the job. The bit held tightly in place, good power, easy to use and I think this is going to be a much better fit than the last two battery operated, no name drills that I bought. Ì do really like this case. The other two came with a case, but you had to play musical chairs to get everything back in right. I did struggle with getting the bit out, but that is because it is new and fits tightly right now. Plus, I have arthritis in my hands, so my grip and strength are not up to par. Over all, I'd recommend this drill.****UPDATE SEPT. 5, 2024**** since my 1st post, I have used this drill several times. It is great! A bit heavy for me but I manage well. I love all of the bits included. On average, they provided everything you need for any project, and I mean everything! Naturally, there are going to be times you'll need a more specialized bit for that DIY project, but you won't need another drill. It's a work horse. My brother, ( he is a master plumber ) used it once and liked it a lot. I doubt I'll use the hammer driven feature much, but it worked as it should when i needed it. I have since taken a wood working class and learned that I was using my drills wrongI HATE when that happens. ( not using the drill wrong, but having to admit i was wwwwrrrrong, as the Fonz would say ) Ty, Skilz, for making great products!

Great value

Works great. Only had to drill four 3/16" holes in stone, but the drill cut easily. Not sure how well the drill would hold up under continuous and long term use, but for the occasional job it should last a lifetime. With the included case and extra drill bits, it's an excellent value.

For Occasional Use, So Far So Good.

I needed a hammer drill to drill some holes in cinder block walls for Tapcon concrete anchors. Knowing I wouldn’t need a hammer drill very often, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a professional grade hammer drill. On the other hand, I didn’t want to go super cheap either. After a lot of research, I decided this Skil 7.5 amp 1/2-inch hammer drill was a good mid-level choice. It's not a Milwaukee or DeWalt, but it's better quality than a Bauer hammer drill from Harbor Freight. This Skil hammer drill (7.5 Amp/3,000 RPM/ 48,000 BPM) appears to be very similar to Craftsman’s corded 1/2-inch hammer drill (7 Amp/3,100 RPM/ 52,700 BPM) , for 15% - 20% less.So far, I'm very happy with this drill. I have only used it to drill a dozen holes for concrete anchors in cinder block walls, but it did the job quickly and effortlessly. I have no doubt it will handle more demanding jobs without a problem. The housing of this hammer drill is made entirely of plastic. I would have preferred a metal gear housing. The side handle is also made entirely of plastic, feels rather cheap and does not hold the depth stop rod very securely. However, a metal gear housing and beefier side handle would presumably add to the cost of this drill, and it was the relatively low cost that attracted me to this drill in the first place. So I guess I can’t complain too much. And given that I'm not likely to use this hammer drill more than a few times a year, I expect it will last many years, even with the plastic gear box housing.I also wish this drill had a keyless chuck. All of my cordless drills have keyless chucks and I had forgotten what a pain keyed chucks are. That said, when tightened with sufficient torque a keyed check probably holds drill bits more securely than a keyless chuck, which might matter on a tough drilling job.In the end, I think this Skil hammer drill is a great option for a DIYer, or even a professional handyman, who doesn’t need a hammer drill often. It is more than adequate for occasional use. It won’t impress diehard Milwaukee, DeWalt, Bosch or Makita fanboys, but it will get the job done and you will have extra money in your pocket to spend on tools you will use more often.

Impressive

Exactly what I needed! Works great with many drill bits that fits what i was looking for, strong enough to drill through concrete and brick with no issues at all. I’m keeping it

Great hammer drill for the price point

I wanted a reliable drill for brick and concrete but I didn't want to spend a ton because I won't use it that often. I bought a 7.5 amp Bauer from Harbor Freight and it was junk right out of the box. They took it back though. That drill was $40. For a wee bit more I bought this 7.5 amp Skil and I love it. It is a well put together tool that does what it's supposed to do: drill holes in brick and concrete without a struggle. If you're a DIY guy who needs the occasional hammer drill but you don't want to spend a ton of money, give this one a try. I'm glad I bought it.
