What it looks like is not a gate latch, but a paper towel holder holder. Is that a pun, or a total misuse of our great language? Your call, my fun. So, I made another review about the brass bar that is perpendicular to the latch (LQQK it up!). But that review is not conventional, and I say, what is? I know I’m not either, but that is what it is also. Getting things in function, and form is my perspective, and finding items to work within my world, is, well, seemingly odd to most, but goofy to those in reality. I am not in reality, and being retired, I needed some therapy. So, I made this work for me. Try a gate latch today, and your paper towel chaos may find its match...or latch so to speak.

We love the style of this hook, which goes above and beyond the basic. It works well. Just a little tip so you can avoid making the mistake I did: it's better to attach the moving part of this hook to the wall, not to the door. If you attach it to the door, it will bang around every time you open or close the door. I made this mistake and had to remove and reattach it.Very happy with this purchase. They also included some extra screws, which is a thoughtful touch.

The reason I dropped 1 star was that the screws provided seem too small for such a solid latch.I used my own slightly larger #6 screws but I feel that the mounting holes should be larger to allow for at least #8 screws.But overall I am happy with the quality and look of the latch.I am using it to keep a shed door from swinging shut.

Most excellent hook of its kind! Sturdy, rugged, yet elegant. Great for indoor or outside. Don’t use the included screws for outside! They are not weather resistant. If a magnet can attract the screws then they will rust, and my magnet pulled them with amplitilude. I used my own brass #6 screws and it’s a beauty!

Came with scratches on it, requested a replacement and the same came with scratches.The latch does not keep locked it always release by itself, poor design and finishDon’t recommend

I needed a catch to keep an exterior door open for ventilation - this was perfect for the job. As another reviewerpointed out, substituting brass screws for the steel ones is a good idea for external applications. I used flat headslotted #6X 3/4" brass wood screws. There is a fair amount of play between the parts, but it hasn't caused a problem during mild windy conditions.

Worked as expected. Looks nice and matched finish on my gate latch.

This latch was the perfect choice for our sliding “barn” door to a bathroom. It functions well and looks a little bit rustic and a little bit pretty.
