Very sweet book
I just bought this for my 8 year-old daughter and she loves it. She has read through most of it and is so excited to host some tea parties and picnics. We are both very pleased with the the book. I think it providers a good understanding of hospitality and the joys of friendship and home arts, without being cheesy or sappy. The illustrations are lovely and inspiring.

Wonderful book for Catholic girls and moms
This book is bringing back class to our young ladies today- something our society has very little of nowadays. What's the most important job in the world? Raising and forming another human being. Teach these young ladies how becoming a homemaker is so important by giving them skills and thoughtful ideas in this book. Homemaking and being a house wife, are not regarded as prestigious jobs now. No wonder our world is where it is. By the way, don't buy this book on Amazon if it's more than $18.95. I emailed Amazon and the individual sellers and let them know their prices are messed up and they still think $1800 is a fair price. You can buy the book which is still in print here on CHC's website for $18.95.[...]

sweet and fun
I have enjoyed using this book with my two daughters. It is arranged by seasons and each season has a menu and suggestions for a gathering of friends. It is full of little homemaking tidbits and recipes. As the previous reviewer stated go to Catholic Heritage Curriculum to get this book for 18.95.

A beautiful introduction to the feminine arts of home-making
This book is simply delightful. It's not for everybody, and may rankle the feminists in our ranks as it focuses on the womanly arts of hospitality and home care from a Catholic perspective. It's a gentle, feminine book and old-fashioned (in a good way) filled with useful tips, recipes, and projects. The book is attractively laid out and illustrated with beautiful photographs: it's a pleasure to read. My eldest daughter (12) - who is as likely to be found kicking a football or climbing a tree as baking a cake - is enchanted with the book. It's given her an insight into a domestic skill set that is almost a lost art, and that's just another arrow to add to her quiver of life-skills.
