These are really heavy duty steel plates. Their functionality is beyond question. I have found so many more uses for them beyond what I bought them for. Keep in mind that the holes in the four corners are really big and you may need washers unless you plan on wielding that part. Really recommend these.

Exactly as described. Blackened (with gun bluing) and used for mantle supports with lift eyes and chains.

I use these to repair the broken base plate on railings and add new support legs to railings,with a good enough weld it holds and really looks nice the pre-drilled holes really help.

I needed some steel plates to place near my mill and lathe to hold the magnetic base on the holder for my dial test indicator. The 3x3 size was just right for the space I had available and plenty big enough for the base. The finish on them is a bit rougher than I expected - there's some sort of black coating that is rough in some areas but that may merely be an effect of the way they're manufactured. I wanted to attach them using double-sided tape, so I wiped them down with mineral spirits and that worked just fine. They are still black and a bit rough but not oily anyway. I didn't need them to be perfectly smooth in any case. If that would be important to you, then you can wire-brush them and the black coating easily comes off and the metal is smooth. They aren't totally flat - I found that they would rock a little if placed on one side, but were solid when placed on the other, so I put the tape on the side that didn't rock although it likely wouldn't have mattered. The holes in them are quite large - a bit over 3/8 or 10mm. Pretty large if you intended to screw the plates to something. The holes are not counter-sunk on either side - just straight through. In any case, they did the job for me, so I'm happy with them.

I chose these in particular because I thought they were already painted or black oxide black. I'm going to keep them because I can't be bothered waiting for something else but now I'll have to paint them myself what I was trying to avoid. Otherwise there fine.
