Q: If I use this on a memory foam mattress will it inhibit the contouring properties of the mattress?

No. These mattress covers are made for memory foam mattresses. The side of the cover that contacts the mattress has a waterproof material to protect the foam. I use mine on a Tempurpedic mattress with no problems.

Q: Is this really waterproof? Every "waterproof" mattress pad seems to have reviews to say they aren't actually waterproof.

NO!!! This mattress pad is better described as highly water resistant. You can test by pouring a very small glass of water on the pad while holding your hand flat underneath. Your hand will have moisture on it. If you are looking for something to contain urine accidents by children or pets, I would NOT recommend. Otherwise, it is a good mattress pad -- fits well and is very light.

Q: Without vinyl how is this waterproof?

The waterproof layer used on all SureGuard products is TPU - a thin film of polyurethane that is bonded to the material.
