NO, not all. They are unwearable until professionally sharpened

You should measure her foot and compare it to the size chart. Please do not buy a size or two up for wiggle room like Vicky suggested. Ice skates are not like shoes. I was a figure skater for many years. You want the boot to fit just right. Snug, but not too small and certainly not too big. Your feet need to have control of the boot.

How to keep lace cleats from breaking out?

We have not experienced this problem however I would recommend that you should be certain that the laces are set completely into the cleat, also make sure the laces are tight enough to prevent the foot and ankle to be secure and evenly supported but not over tightened.
