Camping Arizona: A Comprehensive Guide To Public Tent And RV Campgrounds (State Camping Series) Paperback – October 1, 2013

This book is very informative and is a very easy guide. Being new to AZ, I have no idea where to camp. The book breaks down every campground in AZ by region. It then breaks down each individual campground to help you easily identify if it's the type of campground that works for each individual's preferences.

In my reviews I try to say more than if I liked the product. I try to give some information on the product so the reader/potential buyer can make a decision on whether or not to purchase the item.I just completed a 2-week RV excursion of AZ and used this book along with the electronic product, Allstays.This guide is superb in the sense of its relevance, thoroughness and details. I found its layout to be a bit cumbersome. AZ is divided into areas. If the reader opens the guide to that area, you are shown an area map. On that overview map, there are a few sites labeled. After those sites are reviewed, you then are shown a map which is within the overview map. BUT, the sub-map has roads on it that are not necessarily on the overview map. So the reader may have difficulty figuring out where they are in the sub-map, compared to the overview map of the larger area.Lastly, not a complaint (of course), but it is a book. Nowadays electronic is the way to go. Your SmartPhone, Pad, or Notebook would be a better place for this information. Electronically, the sites could be put into a GSP on the device and guide you to your destination. Or, at least, it would have been helpful if the sites in this guide were each given their GPS co-ordinates so that they could be manually put into your device.

Moving to Arizona this summer. This book offers enough information to help decide what camp sites to visit in the future.

There is good information, but not enough to feel good about booking a campsite. I have never taken my family camping in this area and really needed to feel like I got the inside scoop on where to go. Some kind of ranking system would have been helpful.

I bought this book with high hopes I would get a a comprehensive "detailed" guide of more than just a list of "places to camp", but it's not much more than that. I could have printed this list off the internet with more info than this book has. I've been to several of these places and know them well. It would be hard for me to believe the writer had actually been to these and not mentioned things like 12 miles of a dirt wash boarded road or maybe the campsites are a mile from the lake or show a picture of a beautiful lake but nothing about where it is, or a close by campground. The maps are confusing as well. There is a general statement about some lakes no motors are allowed but very few descriptions actually tell you if it applies to that lake. Instead you get a list of campgrounds which as I said before is pretty much useless. I've bought other camping books over the years and compared to those I'm being generous with one star. I'll be sending this back as it was not as described.
